Second Stage Round 8: Lagomar - Yale 85-99

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Lagomar (7-1) in Montevideo on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by Yale (7-1) 99-85. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Lagomar. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Yale forced 22 Lagomar turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Lagomar helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of Argentinian guard Laila Raviolo (180-2000) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points, 22 rebounds and 8 assists and point guard Mariangel Santana (160-2003) who added 28 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Forward Evangelina Rolon (181-2005) responded with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds and point guard Victoria Pereyra (172-1986) scored 18 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Lagomar's coach rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Yale have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-1 record, which they share with Aguada and Lagomar. Yale is looking forward to face Paysandu (#5) on the road in the next round. Lagomar will play against Juventud (#3) in Las Piedras and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
