Regular Season Round 12: Santa Ana - Santa Tecla 79-87

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Santa Ana (3-12) lost at home to fifth ranked Santa Tecla (10-4) 87-79 on Sunday. Santa Tecla dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Santa Ana's 26. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The winners were led by American forward Christopher Blake (195-1988, college: Detroit) who scored that evening 37 points (!!!) and 4 assists and the other American import Cameron Lard (206-1997, college: Iowa St.) supported him with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Four Santa Tecla players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 39 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 10 assists by American point guard Armani Chaney (178-1997, college: Tennessee St.) did not help to save the game for Santa Ana. Puerto Rican center Giovanny Martinez (206, college: Jarvis Christian) added 7 points and 18 rebounds. Santa Tecla have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 10-4 record. Santa Ana lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth place with 12 games lost. Santa Tecla will meet Cojute (#6) in the next round. Santa Ana will play against Nejapa (#7) and hope to secure a win.
