There was a small surprise in Montevideo where third ranked Malvin (5-3) defeated top-ranked Aguada (7-1) 78-69 on Sunday. Malvin looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Aguada's players. The best player for the winners was Argentinian forward Carla Miculka (174-1993) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. Argentinian Maria Jourdheuil (180-1994) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Four Malvin players scored in double figures. Malvin's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Joaquina Gregorio (168-2001) produced 16 points and 6 rebounds and Argentinian Candela Gentinetta (181-2001) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Malvin maintains third position with 5-3 record having just two points less than leader Yale, which they share with Juventud. Aguada at the other side still keeps top place with one game lost. They share the position with Yale and Lagomar. Malvin's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena Hebraica.
