Regular Season Round 12: Cojute - Metapan 103-94

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Metapan (10-3) against sixth ranked Cojute (8-6) on Sunday night. Visiting Metapan was defeated by Cojute in a tough game in Cojutepeque 94-103. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Metapan. Cojute players were unselfish on offense dishing 34 assists comparing to just 19 passes made by Metapan's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Andravious Smith (196-1995, college: Tougaloo) who helped to win the game recording a triple-double by scoring 30 points, 23 rebounds and 14 assists and Lee Vasquez (176-1991) who added 44 points (!!!) and 11 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was Puerto Rican Xavier Zambrana (193-1991) with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 17 rebounds and American-Puerto Rican forward Tyler Polo (201-1987, college: CS Los Angeles) scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. Metapan's coach Augusto Gomez rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Cojute maintains sixth position with 8-6 record. Metapan at the other side keeps the third place with three games lost. They share the position with San Salvador. Cojute will play against higher ranked Santa Tecla (#5) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Metapan will play against Brujos in Izalco and hopes to get back on the winning track.
