Everything went according to plan when second ranked Cayenas (12-5) beat at home bottom-ranked Danzantes (0-16) 73-58 on Friday. Cayenas forced 25 Danzantes turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Ivaney Marquez (181-1983, college: Grayson County) who scored 26 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international Yosimar Corrales (184-1990) chipped in 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Aniuskar Cartaya produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and Yamairi Rodriguez added 13 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Cayenas. Newly promoted Cayenas maintains second place with 12-5 record having just one point less than leader Taurinas. Danzantes lost their sixteenth game in a row. Danzantes at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with 16 games lost. Cayenas will meet Caribenas (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Danzantes will play against Bucaneras in La Guaira, Vargas and hope to get finally their first victory.
