No shocking result in a game when second ranked Aguila (14-3) defeated on the road 5th ranked Metapan (11-5) 80-74 on Saturday. American point guard Marquise Mosley (175-1997, college: Biola, CA) stepped up and scored 24 points and 5 assists for the winners and Panamanian forward Pablo Rivas (198-1994, college: NCCU) chipped in 14 points and 11 rebounds. Rivas is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side American-Puerto Rican forward Derek Reese (203-1993, college: Tennessee) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 14 rebounds and Puerto Rican Xavier Zambrana (193-1991) produced a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds. Metapan's coach Augusto Gomez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Aguila maintains second place with 14-3 record behind leader Quezaltepeque. Metapan lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. Aguila will meet bottom-ranked Chalchuapa (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Metapan will play against Nejapa (#7) and hope to secure a win.
