Regular Season Round 5: Manquehue - Tinguiririca 98-50
Date: October 22, 2022
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Santiago where leader Tinguiririca (3-1) was outplayed by second ranked Manquehue (3-1) 98-50 on Saturday. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Manquehue dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Tinguiririca's 22. Manquehue forced 19 Tinguiririca turnovers and outrebounded them 47-31 including a 40-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Manquehue looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Tinguiririca's players. The former international Jorge Schuler (199-1987) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds for the winners and the former international Fernando Schuler (190-1991) chipped in 16 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Manquehue players scored in double figures. Derick Machado (-1996) responded with 16 points and 6 rebounds and forward Felipe Gonzalez Burgos (183-1998) scored 4 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Manquehue have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Tinguiririca.
