There was no surprise when 4th placed Paysandu (2-7) was crushed at home by second ranked Yale (8-1) 78-44 on Sunday. Yale dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Paysandu's 30. Yale forced 27 Paysandu turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Paysandu's players. Argentinian guard Laila Raviolo (180-2000) stepped up and scored 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and guard Sofia Podesta (161-2003) chipped in 6 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Yale's coach felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was forward Fiorella Santostefano with 9 points and 15 rebounds and Diana Riani produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Yale keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Aguada and Lagomar. Paysandu lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourth place with seven games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Yale will meet at home Juventud (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Paysandu will play against Montevideo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
