Rather predictable result in Mercedes where second ranked D.Sporting (7-2) outscored 6th ranked Remeros (1-8) 65-31 on Sunday. D.Sporting held Remeros to an opponent 23.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 37.7 percent accuracy of the winners. D.Sporting forced 22 Remeros turnovers. Italian-Paraguayan swingman Paola Ferrari (178-1985, college: Union, TN) stepped up and scored 17 points for the winners and forward Lucia Schiavo (174-1998) chipped in 8 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. D.Sporting's coach felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was point guard Leticia Menendez (164-1995) with 16 points and Argentinian power forward Camila Peri (182-2000) scored 4 points and 10 rebounds. Defending champion maintains second place with 7-2 record behind leader Yale. Remeros lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with eight games lost. D.Sporting's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo 25 de Agosto.
