Jumanji wins again in Sugar City Hoops competition - Oct 20, 2016

The Sugar City Hoops Basketball competition continued on Friday 7th October and on Saturday 8th October, 2016, respectively in Orange Walk Town. On Friday 7th October at the East Sports Centre in the U-17 competition, Technical High School won over Muffles Bobcats by the score of 54-40. The top scorers for Technical High School were Clinton Shaw with 25 points, 3 rebounds, 5 steals, 3 assists and 1 block; Vijay Young with 14 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 assist and David Smith with 5 points, 2 steals and 1 assist. For the Muffles Bobcats, the top scorers were Kristian Cabrera with 15 points, 13 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 assist and 1 block; CJ Vasquez with 10 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals and Dickerson Li with 6 points, 12 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal.
In the U-25 competition, Jumanji continued on its winning path when it upended One Love by the score of 84 to 63. The top scorers for Jumanji were Roger Reneau with 21 points, 9 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 assists and 1 block; Craig Cooper with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 1 steal and Shemar White with 19 points, 11 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 assists and 1 block. Meanwhile, the top scorers for One Love were Tyrone Baptist with 21 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals and 1 assist; Dedron Baptist with 15 points, 2 rebounds, 5 steals and 3 assists and Kevin Rampassard with 12 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 assist. The competition then continued on Saturday 8th October at the East Sport Centre with two more games in the competition. In the U-17 competition, Ever Ballaz won over East Coast Ballerz by the score of 48-40. The top scorers for Ever Ballaz were Roel Cabrera with 17 points; Tyrique Dawson with 14 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals and 6 assists and Emmanuel Torres with 8 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals and 3 assists. For the East Coast Ballerz, the top scorers were Norris Fisher with 19 points, 14 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 assists and 2 blocks; Javier Rosado with 8 points, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 block and Erick Luna with 6 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals. In the final game of the evening, this was in the U-25 competition, Belize Road Bullets won over Devils via the default route. The competition will continue this coming weekend.

Giants de San Salvador (Liga MB) agreed terms with American power forward James Milton (203-100kg, college: Stevenson). He played last season at Cayo Western Ballaz in Belizean NEBL. In 13 games he had very impressive stats: 16.6ppg, 10.4rpg and 1.4apg. A very spectacular season in his career as he was named to Latinbasket.com All-Belizean NEBL 2nd Team and to the All-Star Game. Top ranked San Pedro T. (5-2) recorded its second loss on the court of fourth ranked Belmopan B. on Thursday night. Visitors were edged by Belmopan B. 71-69. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. San Pedro T. was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 20-13 charge of Belmopan B., which allowed them to win the game. Belmopan B.
