National Elite Basketball League to hold All Star Night and All Star Game - Mar 5, 2017

The National Elite Basketball League (NEBL) will be hosting its third annual All-Star Night on Saturday, March 11 at St. Catherine Auditorium in Belize City. The activities will commence at 8 p.m. with the Three Point Shootout, followed by the Slam Dunk Contest at 8:30 p.m. In the nightcap, the All Star game, with a new twist will be played.

All Star Game
The All Star Game will see the Imports team up with the Belizean Americans to form one team to challenge our local All Stars. Players on the Belizean American and Imports squad are listed below.

The players for the local All Star team will be selected via fan votes and votes from team managers. The starting five will be selected by popular fan vote, via Facebook likes. Fans are to go to the NEBL Face Book page and vote for their favorite players that they would like to see represent the local squad for the All Star Game. Voting is done by positions. The remaining seven reserves will then be selected by team managers and the media. Below is the list of players who will be selected to make the 12 man roster. The top 2 guards and top 3 big men from FB votes, will decide the starters. Voting will take place from Sunday, February 26 - Saturday, March 4.

As the regular season comes to a close, the Pepsi NEBL playoffs will tip off this coming weekend, with two games. The most exciting game of round 12 in the NEBL took place in Belize City. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 6th ranked Smart Belize H. (4-8) to second ranked Belmopan B. (8-4) 92-90 on Saturday evening. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 92-90. There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in NEBL. The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked San Pedro T. (8-3) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Dangriga W. (6-5) 79-73. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of San Pedro T..
