Former WNBA superstar Lisa Leslie will be on local shores next month as the guest speaker for the Women In Sports Expo.
The event, sponsored by Argus, is scheduled for April 27th at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess.

"I think her experiences as a woman in sport is going to pass on to our young athletes and our Elite athletes. She is very excited to be coming to Bermuda and we didn't have to twist her arm to come. I am sure we will not only get females at the banquet but men also." Leslie, who spoke via phone, is happy to be apart of the event and is anxious to come to the Island. I am looking forward to coming to Bermuda and sharing my experience with the people of Bermuda, I am grateful that I have had this invitation extended to me and I cant wait to get there, she said. "It is an honour to be asked to be apart of this moment in what will surely be a great success." Leslie is a three-time WNBA MVP and a four-time Olympic gold medal winner. She has made several WNBA All-Star appearances and two WNBA championships over the course of eleven seasons with the Los Angeles Sparks.

Jenaya Wade-Fray (175-G-88, college: Chattanooga) scored 11 points for UWIC Archers in their 97 62 win over the Nottingham Wildcats at the Nottingham Wildcats Arena in English Division One Womens Basketball.
Wade-Fray was the teams third highest scorer.
The UWIC Archers led from start to finish, outscoring Nottingham in every quarter. The Archers held a 17 11 lead at the end of the First Quarter, the then outscored Nottingham 17 16 in the Second Quarter to lead 34 27 at the half

Two women basketball players will get a chance to attend a Women's National Basketball Association training camp.
The pair will be chosen during the Bermuda Gas All-star Weekend over this Friday and Saturday.

Two women basketball players will get a chance to attend a Women's National Basketball Association training camp.
The pair will be chosen during the Bermuda Gas All-star Weekend over this Friday and Saturday.
The two Bermuda players will head to Phoenix on May 19 to experience the WNBA training camp.
Temeka Johnson (160-G-82, agency: Josep and Nicolas, college: LSU), starting point guard for the Phoenix Mercury, who will be here for the all-star festivities, said: 'Everyone knows that Im all about providing hope to others, and this is an extension of that.'
'This is a great opportunity to show others how difficult a road we have to travel to reach our goals. Im proud to help empower other young women.'
Johnson will also lead a free skills clinic on Saturday from 9:30am to 11:30am at the Berkeley gym.
Later that day there will be a celebrity basketball game starting at 7pm.
Following that a 15-minute ceremony will be held to give out some legends awards with the SKY streetballers taking on the Bermuda All-stars at 8:30pm.
