Australia victoriously opened Four-Nations Tournament in Yulin. They held off Brazil in the first game. Elyse Penaluna (193-C-88) stepped up with 28 points to lead the Opals. Australia avenged of the loss to Brazil at Qi Yi Cup several days ago.
The Opals entered the game aggressively scoring 25 points in the starting frame. They recorded a 24:15 lead after ten minutes of action. Brazil however quickly tuned in and cut the deficit at 6 points at the interval 39:45. The Latin American powerhouse got within 3 points at the final intermission. Australia pulled together in the fourth period opening a 10-point lead and holding on for the victory. Abby Bishop (189-C-88) nailed 12 points, while Hanna Zavecz (182-F/G-85) provided 11 points in the win. Silvia Gustavo (186-F-82, agency: Josep and Nicolas) responded with 16 points for Brazil. Nadia Calhado (194-C-89) accounted for 14 points in defeat.
Australia will face New Zealand, while Brazil will play against China tonight.
