Chile got to a perfect start. They led by a single point 17:16 after ten minutes. But Brazil quickly shook off sluggishness and raced in front. They outgunned the visitors 23:4 in the second quarter to pull in front. Brazil went on a 30:4 run in the third term to build a 44-point lead with one quarter remaining. Brazil finished off their opponents with a 32:6 rally in the final quarter. Silvia Gustavo (185-F-82, agency: Josep and Nicolas) knocked down 17 points to lead the winners. Karla Martins (172-G-78) added 14 points, while Iziane Castro Marques (183-G/F-82, agency: Josep and Nicolas) contributed 15 points for Brazil. Brazilian National Team played their second exhibition encounter in the USA. They took on the Washington Mystics at the Verizon Centre. Once again the WNBA side proved the strength. However this time Brazil stuck around for long. The Latin American team dominated the first quarter. They posted an 18:14 lead after the opening frame. The Mystics stepped on the gas in the second quarter. The home side dropped 23 points but still trailed by a single point at halftime 38:37. The breakthrough came in the third term for Washington. They ignited an 18:7 run to take a 54:46 lead into the final stanza. Brazil came up with just 10 points in the fourth quarter allowing the Mystics to run away with the victory. Tayler Hill (5'10''-G-90, college: Ohio St.) and Emma Meesseman (6'4''-C-93, agency: LBM Management) delivered 12 points each for the Mystics. The Gems thus shared the second position with hosting China. Brazil fell at 1-8 record at the tourney after the loss. Casey Samuels (180-G-94) was pivotal in the last game scoring 27 points and pulling down 5 boards. Australia built a 20:18 lead after ten minutes. They continued to grow pressure on their Latin American opponents in the second quarter. The Gems established a 40:30 halftime lead. Brazil cut the deficit to 8 points in the third term but it was not enough. The Gems responded with a strong rally in the final period to seal a comfortable win at the end. Stephanie Talbot (186-G-94) delivered 13 points, while Vanessa Panousis (170-PG-95) added 12 points for Australia. Isabela Ramona (178-F-94) answered with 26 points for Brazil.
