Experienced Ariadna Felipe (179-G/F-83) had a very impressive game in the last round for league's second-best UNINASSAU and that's her to receive a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 10. The 33-year old swingman had a double-double of 18 points and ten rebounds, while her team beat Santo Andre (#3, 10-10) 78-63. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. UNINASSAU maintains the 2nd position in Brazilian LBF. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. UNINASSAU will need more victories to improve their 14-6 record. It's Felipe's second year at UNINASSAU and it's hard to imagine this team without her. Felipe has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (9th best: 12.1ppg) and rebounds (5th best: 7.6rpg).
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 31-year old guard Mariana De Almeida (180-G-85) of Blumenau. De Almeida impressed basketball fans with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. It was enough for Blumenau to edge slightly lower-ranked Pres.Valceslau (#6, 4-16) by 2 points 60-58. Blumenau's 5th position in the standings has not changed. 15 lost games are too many comparing to just five victories Blumenau managed to get this year. De Almeida is one of the most experienced players at Blumenau and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.
The third best performed player last round was another UNINASSAU's star - former international center Kelly Santos (192-C-79, agency: Interperformances). Santos scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds. She was another key player of UNINASSAU, helping her team with a 80-65 easy win against #3 ranked Santo Andre in a game of the week. UNINASSAU needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 14 victories and 6 lost games. Santos has a very solid season. In 19 games in Brazil she scored 7.6ppg.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Leila Zabani (181-G/F-91) of Blumenau - 16 points, 2 rebounds and 5 assists 5. Raphaella Monteiro (181-F-95) of UNINASSAU - 16 points and 10 rebounds 6. The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
