Sao Jose Dos Campos celebrated the initial win at the South American League 2012. The Brazilian side beat El Bosque 91:58 for 1-2 record in Group D. The team from Peru finished winless with 0-3 record.
Both teams entered the game without victories and desired to finish the campaign at least with one win. Sao Jose Dos Campos won the first period 16-8 and had massive 27-12 surge in the second frame. Moreover they won the third period 26-10 and did not mind 22-28 in the lat stanza.
Deivisson Costa (211-C-80) top-scored for the winners with 24 points and 14 rebounds, while Alvaro Calvo (203-G/F-83, agency: Dynamics Global Management) had 19 points and 14 rebounds. Icaro Parisotto (181-G-92, college: San Diego Chr.) also scored 19, whilst Andre Laws (186-G-80, college: San Diego) nailed 12. Darnell Evans (191-G, college: Queens, NC) ended up with 20 points in the losing effort. Manuel Chavez (201-C) had 11 and Roque Osorio (206-C-76, college: Fair Dickinson) collected 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Paulistano/Unimed Sao Paolo (NBB) agreed terms with 31-year old Argentinian power forward Daniel Hure (200-85). He played last summer at Libertad in Paraguayan Metropolitan League. International Lucas Mariano (208-C/F-93) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's second-best Brasilia and that's him to receive a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 6.
