Flamengo wins the Brazilian battle in the start of the Semifinal Stage in Group E. They edged Brasilia 92:82 in the opener of four teams campaign in Sao Paulo.
Brasilia opened the game with 26-24 and won the second frame 21-19. They could not match however Flamengo in the second half. The latter replied with 24-17 in the third quarter and finished the game with 25-18 in the last stanza.
Olivinha Rodriguez (202-F-83) top-scored for the winners with 22 points and Vitor Benite (190-F/G-90) added 21. Marquinhos Vieira (207-F-84) notched 19, while Eduardo Machado (195-G-82) scored 11. Arthur Silva (199-F/G-82) answered with 20 points in the losing effort and Dos Santos Welington added 14. Alex Ribeiro (191-G-80, agency: Interperformances) and Guilherme Giovannoni (202-F-80, agency: Interperformances) finished the game with 12 points apiece.
Tomorrow, Uniceub / BRB clashes with Tiburones de Vargas of Venezuela, while Flamengo will play hosts Pinheiros / Sky.
