Seven players scored in double digits for Pinheiros/Skys victory over Tiburones in Sao Paulo. The hosts overcame visiting Venezuelan team 108:79 in the start of the Semifinal Stage of South American League 2012.
Pinheiros/Sky started the game with 22-19 and never looked behind after. They allowed the opponents to score the same number of points in the second period, while they added 35 for 57:38 halftime advantage. Pinheiros/Sky also won the third period 29-17 and did not mind 22-24 in the last stanza.
Joe Smith (193-G-77, college: Al.-Huntsville) stepped up with 23 points and Andre Bambu (205-C-79) notched 15. Paulinho Boracini (183-G-84) brought 14, while Marcio Dornelles (194-F-75) and Shamell Stallworth (196-SG-80, agency: Interperformances, college: USF) posted 13 apiece. Alejandro Barrios (205-C-79) replied with 20 points in the losing effort and Axiers Sucre (200-F-78) collected 16 points and 11 boards. Kenneth Cooper (208-C-87, college: UAB) scored 12, while Windi Graterol (204-C-86) tossed in 10.
Tomorrow, Uniceub / BRB clashes with Tiburones de Vargas of Venezuela, while Flamengo will play hosts Pinheiros / Sky.

Paulistano/Unimed Sao Paolo (NBB) agreed terms with 31-year old Argentinian power forward Daniel Hure (200-85). He played last summer at Libertad in Paraguayan Metropolitan League. International Lucas Mariano (208-C/F-93) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's second-best Brasilia and that's him to receive a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 6. The 23-year old had the game-high 27 points adding nine rebounds and two assists for Brasilia in his team's victory, helping them to beat L.Sorocaba (#9, 2-3) 73-66.
