Guilherme
Giovannoni
Naturalized Italian forward Guilherme Giovannoni (202-F-80, agency: Interperformances) put on an amazing game in the last round for Brasilia, receiving a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 12.
The 32-year old player had a double-double of 25 points and 12 rebounds, while his team beat Suzano (#16, 2-9) 92-81. Brasilia is placed at 6th position in Italian NBB. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Brasilia will need more victories to improve their 6-2 record. In the team's last game Giovannoni had a remarkable 87.5% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Brasilia, through which he has constantly improved. Guilherme Giovannoni has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (5th best: 19.6ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 9.9rpg) and averages impressive 1.1bpg and 61.9% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was another Brasilia's star - 30-year old former international swingman Arthur Silva (199-F/G-82). Silva had a very good evening with 33 points and 3 rebounds. Of course Brasilia cruised to a 92-81 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Suzano (#16, 2-9). This victory allowed Brasilia to move up to 6th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 6-2 record is not bad and everything may still change. Silva is one of the most experienced players at Brasilia and similarly like Guilherme Giovannoni has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.3ppg (#7).

Third on the list of top players last round was forward Ricardo Gaspar (202-F-84) of Suzano (#16). Gaspar scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Despite Gaspar's great performance Suzano lost 81-92 to the higher-ranked Brasilia (#6, 6-2). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Suzano can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 2-9 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Gaspar he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Gaspar has a very solid season. In 10 games in Brazil he scored 9.4ppg. He also has 5.8rpg and FGP: 51.4%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Maurice Riddick (188-G-79) of Mogi das Cruzes - 26 points and 2 rebounds
5. William Drudi (206-C/F-81) of Basquete Cearense - 21 points and 7 rebounds
6. Douglas Nunes (201-C-87) of Minas - 19 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Joe Smith (193-G-77) of Pinheiros/Sky - 24 points and 5 assists
8. Lucas Cipolini (206-F/C-86) of Uberlandia - 19 points and 7 rebounds
9. Leonardo Meindl (200-F-93) of Franca - 18 points and 6 rebounds
10. Desmond Holloway (190-G-88) of Liga Sorocaba - 23 points and 5 rebounds

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

NBB Round 7 of Regular Season - 1 day ago

Host teams show no mercy winning all games. First defeat of league's leader Universo/Vitoria (5-1) against fifth ranked Campo Mourao (4-2) 70-64 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Universo/Vitoria. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Betinho Nardi Duarte (195-88) who helped to win the game recording 22 points. Power forward Leandro Da Silva (203-81) contributed with 16 points for the winne...   [read more]

Paulistano inks Daniel Hure - 2 days ago

Paulistano/Unimed Sao Paolo (NBB) agreed terms with 31-year old Argentinian power forward Daniel Hure (200-85). He played last summer at Libertad in Paraguayan Metropolitan League. Hure won Paraguayan League championship title in 2011. He has played previously professionally in Argentina (La Union, Sionista and Olimpico de La Banda). Hure could be described: A young low post operator, with good rebounding skills. He is not yet enough experienced for top games, however, and needs to a...   [read more]

Lucas Mariano claims Brazilian NBB weekly honour - 4 days ago

International Lucas Mariano (208-C/F-93) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's second-best Brasilia and that's him to receive a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 6. The 23-year old had the game-high 27 points adding nine rebounds and two assists for Brasilia in his team's victory, helping them to beat L.Sorocaba (#9, 2-3) 73-66. Brasilia is placed at 2nd position in Brazilian NBB. They are still close to the very top. Brasilia would have been even better i...   [read more]
