Here is the weekly review of the top performing Brazilian players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international power forward Tiago Splitter (211-85, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in NBA). He led San Antonio Spurs to a 3-point victory against the Los Angeles Lakers (16-21) 108-105 in the NBA in Wednesday night's game. Splitter had a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting the same number of rebounds in 35 minutes on the court. The San Antonio Spurs have a solid 29-11 record this season. Splitter has relatively good stats this year: 9.6ppg, 5.2rpg, 1.4apg, 2FGP: 58.3%(141-242) and FT: 75.2% in the 40 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Brazilian and Spanish. Splitter is currently a member of the Brazilian senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to former international center Rafael Hettsheimer (206-86, currently plays in Spain). He contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked G.Canaria 2014 (12-5) crushing them 90-54 in the Spanish ACB last Sunday. Hettsheimer scored 7 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Real Madrid (16-1) is placed first in the ACB. This season Hettsheimer averages: 3.7ppg, 2.3rpg, 2FGP: 63.2%(12-19) and FT: 66.7%. He is another player who holds two passports: Brazilian and Spanish. Hettsheimer played for the Brazilian national team in 2011.

The Brazilian player who performed third best last week abroad was former international center Hatila Passos (211-85, college: N.Mexico St., currently plays in Uruguay), who plays in the Uruguayan LUB. He could not help Hebraica (20-10) in their last game. Despite Passos' very good performance the fifth-placed Hebraica lost 91-98 in a derby game to the leading Bigua in the Capital group. He had a double-double by scoring 22 points and getting 12 rebounds in 32 minutes. They ended the series of six consecutive victories. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Passos is currently fourth on the list of best rebounders with 11.3rpg. This year his other stats are: 14.5ppg, 1.1apg, 2FGP: 68.3%(164-240) and FT: 53.6% in the 27 games. Passos played for the Brazilian national team three years ago.

Point guard Marcelinho Huertas (191-83, agency: Edge Sports, currently plays in Euroleague) contributed to a Regal FC Barcelona's victory against the closely-ranked Olympiacos (1-2) 76-68 in the Euroleague in Friday night's game. He scored 10 points and added 3 assists. Regal FC Barcelona (2-1) is placed fourth in group F. Huertas' overall stats this season are: 9.6ppg, 2.0rpg and 3.0apg. He has both Brazilian and Italian nationalities. Huertas is also Brazilian national team player.

This year Batista has relatively solid stats: 10.9ppg, 5.5rpg and 1.6apg. He is a former international player as he played for the Brazilian senior team three years ago.

He scored only 4 points in 15 minutes. Blusens Monbus was edged 89-87 on the road by the lower-ranked (#11) FIATC Joventut. This year Freire's total stats are: 2.1ppg, 1.4rpg and 1.8apg in the 17 games. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Brazilian National Team roster.

   #11. International point guard Raul Neto (186-92, currently plays in Spain) helped Lagun Aro GBC win their game against the third-ranked Valencia Basket 76-68 in the Spanish ACB on Saturday night. Neto scored 7 points and added 4 assists. Neto has averaged so far 9.8ppg, 2.5rpg, 3.4apg and 1.5spg. He plays currently for the Brazilian national team.

   #12. Former international guard Carlos Cobos (193-88, currently plays in Spain), who plays in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) was not able to secure a victory for Leche Rio Breogan (7-7) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Cobos' good performance Leche Rio Breogan was badly defeated 75-58 in Barcelona by the much lower-ranked FCB Regal II (#12). He scored 10 points. Cobos has averaged so far 4.9ppg, 2.6rpg, 2.1apg and 1.1spg. He used to play for the Brazilian national team back in 2010.

   #13. Former U17 international center Rafael Maia (206-91, currently plays college basketball in the States) helped Brown win their game against the Daniel Webster crushing them 71-34 in the NCAA in Saturday night's game. He scored 7 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Maia has averaged so far 4.9ppg, 2.6rpg, 2.1apg and 1.1spg. He used to play for the Brazilian U17 national team six years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Brazilian passport but never been selected to any of Brazilian national teams:

   #1. Vitor Faverani (211-C-88, currently plays in Spain), who plays in the Spanish ACB could not help Valencia Basket (12-5) to beat Lagun Aro GBC (3-14). Faverani scored only 4 points in 11 minutes. Valencia Basket lost 68-76 on the road to the one of league's weakest teams (#17) Lagun Aro GBC. It was Valencia Basket's first loss after three consecutive victories. Faverani is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Valencia Basket's roster. This season his total stats are: 9.0ppg, 6.9rpg and 1.3bpg in the eight games he played so far.

   #2. Atila Santos (208-C-83, agency: Warren Sports International, college: Minnesota St., currently plays in Bulgaria) contributed to Balkan's victory against the closely-ranked Euroins Cherno More (5-6) 74-67 in the Bulgarian NBL in Saturday night's game. Santos scored 6 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 15 minutes. Balkan Botevgrad (7-6) is placed fifth in the NBL. It's Santos' first season with the team. Santos is currently second on the list of best rebounders and also on the list of best blockers (fourth place). He has very reliable stats this year: 11.7ppg, 10.2rpg, 1.2bpg and 1.1spg in the 10 games.

   #3. Rodrigo de Souza (188-G, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to an easy victory against the Cal Poly - San Luis Obispo (3-2) crushing them 77-55 in the NCAA on Saturday night. de Souza scored 10 points (went 6 for 6 at the free throw line) in 16 minutes. The University of Pacific has 3-1 conference record this season. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. de Souza has averaged so far 4.9ppg, 2.6rpg, 2.1apg and 1.1spg in the 14 games.

   #4. Diego Soarez (205-C-87, currently plays in Uruguay) managed to help Atletico Welcome in a victory against the tenth-ranked Olimpia (12-17) 93-79 in a derby game in the Uruguayan LUB last Friday. Soarez scored 5 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 12 minutes. Atletico Welcome (10-19) is placed 13th in Capital group. His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Soarez has averaged so far 2.3ppg and 2.4rpg in the 19 games. He has a dual citizenship: Brazilian and Uruguayan.

   #5. Gabriel Dos Santos (193-G, currently studies in the States) contributed to an easy victory against the Youngstown State University (1-2) crushing them 101-60 in the NCAA on Thursday night. Dos Santos recorded only 2 points. The University of Detroit Mercy has 3-1 conference record this season. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Dos Santos has averaged so far 2.3ppg and 2.4rpg.

   #6. Experienced Romero Junior (200-F-74, currently plays in Portugal) was not able to help one of league's weakest teams Fisica in their game against Lusitania in the Portuguese LPB. He scored 5 points in 12 minutes. His team lost 54-67. This year Junior averages only 4.0ppg in the two games. He is another player who holds two passports: Brazilian and Portuguese.

   #7. Luiz Bidart (183-G-90, is currently at the American university) was not able to secure a victory for the Seattle in their game against the New Mexico State University in the NCAA. Bidart cannot count Thursday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 2 points. His team was edged in an overtime 83-82. This season Bidart averages just 4.0ppg.

   #8. Arthur Bernardi (206-F-90, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA couldn't help the Houston Baptist (0-2) in their last game. Despite his good performance the Houston Baptist was crushed 72-44 in El Paso, TX by the The Univ.of Texas at El Paso. Bernardi scored 10 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 22 minutes. This year Bernardi averages only 4.0ppg in the two games.

Caxias do Sul BasqueteTriches (NBB) strengthened their roster with addition of experienced 34-year old small forward Alex Oliveira (196-83). It is actually his comeback to Caxias do Sul as he has played here before. Oliveira played last season at Uniceub/BRB/Brasilia (NBB). In 28 games he recorded 5.8ppg and 2.3rpg. 23-year old forward Eduardo Sommer (204-F-94) put on an amazing game in the last round for Paulistano and receives a Latinbasket.com Paulista Player of the Week award for round 7. He had a double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds, while his team outclassed America (#7, 2-8) with 51-point margin 109-58. Paulistano maintains the 3rd position in Brazilian Paulista. Bahia Basket - Flamengo 82:73 Bahia Basket claimed the Torneo Internacional de Lima 2017 title. They edged Flamengo for the trophy. Maximo Fjellerup (195-G-97) delivered 15 points to lead the winners. Flamengo jumped to a 19:16 lead after the first period. Bahia Basket bounced back in the second term.
