Vitor Benite
International swingman Vitor Benite (190-F/G-90) had an amazing evening in the last round for top-ranked Flamengo, receiving a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 16.
The 22-year old player was the main contributor (28 points, five rebounds and six assists) to his team's victory, helping them to outclass Palmeiras (#17, 2-13) with 45-point margin 106-61. It allowed Flamengo to consolidate first place in the Brazilian NBB. They maintain perfect record without any lost game in the league. It's already very far into the season and Flamengo keeps perfect 14 -0 record. In the team's last game Benite had a remarkable 62.5% from 2-point range and got five three-pointers out of 8 attempts. He turned to be Flamengo's top player in his first season with the team. Vitor Benite averages this season 14.5ppg.

The second best player in last round's games was 31-year old Italian guard Fulvio de Assis (187-G-81) of S.Jose/Unimed. de Assis had a very good evening with 9 points, 4 rebounds and 14 assists. It was enough for S.Jose/Unimed to edge the higher-ranked Uberlandia (#2, 11-4) 80-76. This victory allowed S.Jose/Unimed to move up to 5th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 10-6 record is not bad and everything may still change. de Assis is one of the most experienced players at S.Jose/Unimed and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Robert Day (197-F-82) of league's second-best Uberlandia. Day showcased his all-around game by recording 17 points, six rebounds and six assists in the last round. Despite Day's great performance Uberlandia lost 76-80 to the lower-ranked S.Jose/Unimed (#5, 10-6). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Uberlandia needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 11 victories and 4 lost games. Day has a great season in Brazil. After 15 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.9ppg (7th best). He also has 1.5bpg, FGP: 58.9% and 3PT: 50.0%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Paulo Nery (188-G-81) of Suzano - 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists
5. James Parker (188-PG-81) of Vila Velha - 26 points and 6 rebounds
6. Arlindo Neto (187-G-86) of Liga Sorocaba - 25 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Deivisson Costa (211-C-80) of S.Jose/Unimed - 20 points and 10 rebounds
8. Alvaro Calvo (203-G/F-83) of S.Jose/Unimed - 17 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists
9. DeAndre Coleman (201-F-86) of Bauru - 13 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists
10. Larry Taylor (185-G-80) of Bauru - 17 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
