We bring you last week's top performances from Brazilians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international power forward Tiago Splitter (211-85, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in NBA). He led San Antonio Spurs to a victory against the Golden State Warriors (25-15) 95-88 in the NBA in Friday night's game. Splitter recorded 19 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 36 minutes on the court. The San Antonio Spurs have a solid 33-11 record this season. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Splitter has relatively good stats this year: 10.0ppg, 5.6rpg, 1.3apg, 2FGP: 59.4%(165-278) and FT: 74.0% in the 44 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Brazilian and Spanish. Splitter is currently a member of the Brazilian senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international center Hilario Nene (207-82, currently plays in NBA). He led Washington Wizards to a 3-point victory over the Portland Trail Blazers (20-21) 98-95 in the NBA last Monday. Nene was MVP of the game. He recorded 24 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. The Washington Wizards have rather weak 9-30 record this season. It's Nene's first year with the team. Nene has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 12.5ppg, 6.5rpg, 2.6apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 49.8% and FT: 73.7%. Nene is in the roster of the Brazilian senior national team.

   #3. The Brazilian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international point guard Marcelinho Huertas (191-83, agency: Edge Sports, currently plays in Spain). He was the major contributor in a Regal FC Barcelona's victory against the 14th-ranked Blancos de Rueda (7-11) 88-82 in the Spanish ACB on Sunday night. Huertas scored 16 points, had 4 boards, dished 8 assists and stole 3 balls in 25 minutes. Regal FC Barcelona (10-8) is placed sixth in the ACB. Huertas is currently sixth on the list of best passers with 3.8apg. This year his other stats are: 8.4ppg, 2.1rpg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 41.5%, 3FGP: 35.2% and FT: 89.7% in the 18 games. Huertas is another player who holds two passports: Brazilian and Italian. He is also a member of the Brazilian senior national team.

Power forward Joao Paulo Batista (207-81, college: Gonzaga, currently plays in France) led Le Mans to a victory over the league outsider Boulazac Basket (4-12) 77-68 in the French ProA in Saturday night's game. Batista was the best player in that game. He recorded 17 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists. Le Mans Sarthe Basket (11-5) is placed second in the ProA. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Batista is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fifth year in Le Mans' roster. This season Batista has relatively solid stats: 11.3ppg, 5.8rpg and 1.7apg. He used to play for the Brazilian national team back in 2010.

   #5. Former international center Lucas Tischer (208-83, currently plays in Argentina), who plays in the Argentinian LigaA could not help Penarol (19-9) in their last game. Despite Tischer's very good performance Penarol was edged 87-86 at home by the one of league's weakest teams (#15) Obras. He scored 15 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 27 minutes. This year Tischer's overall stats are: 8.5ppg and 3.5rpg in the two games. He used to play for the Brazilian national team seven years ago.

   #6. Center Rafael Hettsheimer (206-86, currently plays in Spain) managed to help Real Madrid in a victory against the 11th-ranked Unicaja Malaga (8-10) crushing them 91-67 in the Spanish ACB in Sunday night's game. Hettsheimer scored only 4 points in 9 minutes on the court. Real Madrid (17-1) is placed first in the ACB. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Hettsheimer's first season with the team. This year his total stats are: 3.8ppg and 2.1rpg in the eight games. Hettsheimer is a former international player as he played for the Brazilian senior team two years ago.

   #7. International point guard Leandro Barbosa (190-82, currently plays in NBA) was not able to help the Boston Celtics (20-20) in their game against the Chicago Bulls (24-16) in the NBA. He recorded 5 points. The Boston Celtics were edged in an overtime 100-99 on the road by the Bulls. It was Celtics' third consecutive loss in a row. Barbosa has averaged so far 4.8ppg and 1.3apg. He is also Brazilian national team player.

   #8. Center Hatila Passos (211-85, college: N.Mexico St., currently plays in Uruguay), who plays in the Uruguayan LUB was not able to secure a victory for Hebraica (0-1) in their last game. Despite Passos' good performance the eighth-placed Hebraica lost 71-82 in a derby game to the leading Union Atletica in the Serie 1. He recorded 13 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 34 minutes. There are only two games left until the end of the Second Stage. So now every game will be critical. Passos is currently fifth on the league's list of best rebounders with 11.2rpg. This year his other stats are: 14.4ppg in the 28 games. Passos used to play for the Brazilian national team back in 2010.

   #9. International point guard Raul Neto (186-92, currently plays in Spain), who plays in the Spanish ACB couldn't help Lagun Aro GBC (3-15) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance the bottom-ranked Lagun Aro GBC was defeated 73-67 on their home court in San Sebastian by the much higher-ranked FIATC Joventut (#9). Neto was the top scorer with 14 points. He also added 7 rebounds. Neto has averaged so far 10.0ppg, 2.7rpg, 3.3apg and 1.4spg. He is also in the roster of the Brazilian national team.

   #10. Point guard Rafael Freire (188-92, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Blusens Monbus (9-9) in their game against Assignia Manresa (3-15) in the Spanish ACB. Freire cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 3 points and added 8 passes. Blusens Monbus was defeated 83-69 in Manresa by the one of league's weakest teams Assignia (#17). Freire has averaged so far 2.2ppg, 1.4rpg and 2.1apg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Brazilian National Team roster.

   #11. Former international swingman Jonathan Tavernari (198-87, college: BYU, currently plays in Italy) couldn't help Givova Scafati in their game against Upea CdO in the Italian Lega2 (second division). Tavernari recorded 9 points and had 3 steals in 27 minutes. His team lost in an overtime 75-80. Tavernari has averaged so far 7.4ppg and 3.3rpg in the 15 games. He used to play for the Brazilian national team three years ago.

   #12. Former international guard Carlos Cobos (193-88, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Leche Rio Breogan in their game against River Andorra in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division). Despite his good performance last Saturday Cobos was the second best scorer with 10 points. He also added 3 assists. Cobos has averaged so far 5.3ppg, 2.7rpg, 2.1apg and 1.1spg. He used to play for the Brazilian national team back in 2010.

   #13. Former U17 international center Rafael Maia (206-91, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to Brown's victory against the Yale University 65-51 in the NCAA on Saturday night. Maia recorded 10 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 24 minutes. Maia has averaged so far 5.3ppg, 2.7rpg, 2.1apg and 1.1spg in the 15 games. He used to play for the Brazilian U17 national team six years ago.

   #14. Former University international center Andre Almeida (211-88, currently studies in the States) couldn't help the Nebraska in their game against the Purdue University in the NCAA. Almeida recorded 8 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. His team was defeated 65-56. Almeida has averaged so far 5.3ppg, 2.7rpg, 2.1apg and 1.1spg. He used to play for the Brazilian university national team back in 2009.

   #15. Former international center Michel Nascimento (208-78, currently plays in Uruguay) contributed to Olimpia's victory against the fifth-ranked Lagomar 78-65 in a derby game in the Uruguayan LUB last Saturday. Nascimento recorded 8 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 20 minutes. Nascimento has reliable stats this year: 11.0ppg and 9.5rpg in the two games. He used to play for the Brazilian national team nine years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Brazilian passport but never been selected to any of Brazilian national teams:

   #1. Vitor Faverani (211-C-88, currently plays in Eurocup) contributed to a Valencia Basket's victory against the third-ranked CEZ Nymburk (1-1) 82-77 in the Eurocup on Wednesday night. Faverani scored 8 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Valencia Basket (2-0) is placed first in group J. There are only four games left until the end of the Eurocup Top 16. So now every game will be critical. Faverani has been at the team for four years. His total stats this season are: 4.7ppg and 3.7rpg.

   #2. Atila Santos (208-C-83, agency: Warren Sports International, college: Minnesota St., currently plays in Bulgaria) helped Balkan win their game against the closely-ranked Tundja Yambol (7-6) crushing them 91-69 in the Bulgarian NBL last Friday. Santos recorded 6 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in 22 minutes. Balkan Botevgrad (8-5) is placed fourth in the NBL. Santos is ranked second on the list of the best rebounders in the league and also on the list of best blockers (fifth place). He has very reliable stats this year: 11.2ppg, 10.4rpg and 1.2bpg in the 11 games he played so far.

   #3. Rodrigo de Souza (188-G, currently plays college basketball in the States) helped Pacific win their game against the Cal State - Northridge (0-6) 74-62 in the NCAA in Saturday night's game. de Souza recorded 6 points in only 14 minutes. The University of Pacific has a solid 4-2 conference record this season. de Souza's stats this year are: 11.0ppg and 9.5rpg in the two games.

   #4. Luiz Bidart (183-G-90, currently studies in the States) helped Seattle win their game against the University of Texas at Arlington (3-4) 61-44 in the NCAA last Thursday. He scored 6 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished 3 assists. The Seattle University has rather weak 1-6 conference record this season. Bidart's stats this year are: 11.0ppg and 9.5rpg.

   #5. Gabriel Dos Santos (193-G, is currently at the American university) managed to help University of Detroit Mercy in a victory against the University of Illinois-Chicago (2-4) crushing them 98-47 in the NCAA on Saturday night. He recorded only 3 points in 5 minutes on the court. The University of Detroit Mercy has 4-3 conference record this season. Dos Santos' stats this year are: 11.0ppg and 9.5rpg in the two games.

   #6. Rinaldo Mafra (201-F-86, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA could not help the Jacksonville St. to beat the Tennessee State University. He scored 7 points. His team was defeated 66-60. Mafra's stats this season are: 11.0ppg and 9.5rpg.

   #7. Renan Lenz (206-C-90, currently plays college basketball in the States) was not able to help the one of league's weakest teams Utah in their game against the Washington State University in the NCAA. He cannot count Wednesday's game as one of the best ones. Lenz recorded only 2 points in 9 minutes on the court. His team lost 65-75. Lenz's stats this year are: 11.0ppg and 9.5rpg in the two games.

   #8. Experienced Romero Junior (200-F-74, currently plays in Portugal) helped Fisica win their game against the closely-ranked Barcelos 69-66 in the Portuguese LPB on Saturday night. He recorded only 2 points. This season Junior averages just 3.3ppg. He has a dual citizenship: Brazilian and Portuguese.

   #9. Daniel Monteiro (195-F-84, currently plays in Portugal) was not able to secure a victory for Ginasio in their game against Oliveirense in the Portuguese Proliga (second division). Monteiro cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 2 points in 12 minutes. His team was crushed by 40 points 89-49. Monteiro has averaged so far 2.0ppg and 2.0rpg in the three games.

   #10. Arthur Bernardi (206-F-90, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA couldn't help the Houston Baptist (0-3) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his very good performance the Houston Baptist was crushed 81-56 on the road by the Chicago State University. Bernardi recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and getting 13 rebounds. Bernardi has averaged so far 2.0ppg and 2.0rpg.

Campo Mourao (NBB) landed 24-year old guard Felipe Taddei (192-92) from Vitoria. In 25 NBB games he averaged just 2.2ppg last season. The previous (14-15) season Taddei played at SKY/Basquete. But in 6 NBB games he had only 0.5ppg. His team won Brazilian National League Regular Season in 2011. Taddei represented Brazil at the World Championships U19 in Latvia five years ago. Campo Mourao (NBB) strengthened their roster with addition of 28-year old power forward Romario Souza (208-111kg-88, college: Louisiana Tech, agency: Interperformances).
