An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Uberlandia. Second ranked Uberlandia faced 3rd placed Vivo/Franca. Host Uberlandia (12-4) defeated guests from Sao Paulo (11-6) 91-87. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 29-17. But Vivo/Franca won third quarter 29-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Uberlandia made 25-of-30 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Uberlandia outrebounded Vivo/Franca 34-16 including a 23-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. 25 personal fouls committed by Vivo/Franca helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American forward Robert Day (197-82, college: W.Oregon) who scored 21 points and 5 rebounds. The former international center Jose Estevam Ferreira (211-78) chipped in 16 points and 11 rebounds. The former international swingman Jhonatan Luz dos Santos (196-87) produced 25 points for the guests. Uberlandia maintains second place with 12-4 record having four points less than leader Flamengo. Vivo/Franca at the other side dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Undefeated leader Flamengo delivered the sixteenth consecutive victory. This time they crushed 9th ranked Paulistano (8-8) 94-70 in Rio de Janeiro. International swingman Vitor Benite (190-90) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 4 blocks. Marquinhos Vieira contributed with 23 points and 4 blocks for the winners. American center Steven Toyloy (203-87, college: Cincinnati) answered with 16 points for Paulistano. Paulistano's coach Gustavo Conti gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Undefeated Flamengo (16-0) have an impressive series of sixteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 16 victories in a row. Paulistano at the other side keeps the ninth position with eight games lost. They share it with Minas. Flamengo will play against Pinheiros (#4) in Sao Paolo in the next round. Paulistano will play on the road against Tijuca TC (#18) in Rio de Janeiro and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Undefeated leader Flamengo recorded the sixteenth consecutive victory on Monday night. This time they beat 11th ranked Minas (8-8) 105-90 in Belo Horizonte. Caio Silveira stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Jermaine Beal responded with 25 points. The victory was the sixteenth consecutive win for Flamengo. They maintain first place with 16-0 record. Loser Minas dropped to the ninth position with eight games lost. They share it with Paulistano. Flamengo will meet at home Pinheiros (#4) in the next round. Minas will play against Paschoalotto/Bauru (#6) and hope to secure a win.
The game in Aldeota was also worth to mention about. 6th ranked Sao Jose/Vinac (10-7) played at the court of eighth ranked SKY/Basquete (9-7). SKY/Basquete defeated Sao Jose/Vinac 73-63. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Sao Jose/Vinac. Felipe Ribeiro nailed a double-double by scoring 22 points and 18 rebounds for the winning side. SKY/Basquete's coach Alberto Bial allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. SKY/Basquete maintains eighth place with 9-7 record. Sao Jose/Vinac at the other side dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. SKY/Basquete's next round opponent will be Mogi (#15) in Mogi das Cruzes and are hoping to win another game.
Important game to mention about took place in Sorocabana. Eleventh ranked Minas (8-8) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 10th ranked Liga Sorocaba (7-9) 84-82 on Thursday evening. The best player for the winners was Betinho Nardi Duarte who scored 27 points and 5 rebounds. Liga Sorocaba's coach Rinaldo Rodrigues rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Minas moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Paulistano. Loser Liga Sorocaba dropped to the eleventh position with nine games lost. Minas will face higher ranked Paschoalotto/Bauru (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Liga Sorocaba will play against Vila Velha (#14).

Other games of round 17 were very predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Palmeiras was defeated by Joinville in a road game 75-60. Limeira smashed Suzano at home 96-65. Vila Velha lost to Bauru on the opponent's court 70-85. Brasilia outscored Mogi das Cruzes in a home game 94-67. Pinheiros/Sky managed to beat Tijuca TC on the road 73-64. Brasilia defeated Liga Sorocaba on its own court 86-75.

The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 12-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 75-60. Joinville dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Palmeiras' 38. They outrebounded Palmeiras 40-25 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Joinville made 13 blocks. Not a big story in a game in Rio de Janeiro where 18th ranked Tijuca TC (2-14) was defeated by fifth ranked Pinheiros (11-5) 73-64 on Thursday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Tijuca TC won third quarter 19-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Pinheiros made 9 blocks. The best player for the winners was naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (196-80, college: USF, agency: Interperformances) who scored 22 points and 8 rebounds.
