Caio Silveira claims Brazilian NBB weekly honour - Jan 26, 2013

Naturalized Spanish center Caio Silveira (211-C-87, agency: Interperformances) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's leader Flamengo and that's him to receive a Player of the Week award for round 17.
The 25-year old center had a double-double of 23 points and fourteen rebounds, while his team beat Minas (#10, 8-8) 105-90. It allowed Flamengo to consolidate first place in the Spanish NBB. They maintain perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is already in a full swing and Flamengo still have not lost a single game, getting all 16 victories. It's Silveira's second year at Flamengo and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Caio Silveira averages this season 12.1ppg and 6.5rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 33-year old former international forward Felipe Ribeiro (201-F-79) of Basquete Cearense. Ribeiro impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 22 points and 18 rebounds. Of course Basquete Cearense cruised to a 73-63 relatively comfortable win over slightly higher-ranked S.Jose/Unimed (#7, 10-7). Basquete Cearense's 8th position in has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 9-7 record is not bad and everything may still change. Ribeiro is a newcomer at Basquete Cearense and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was another Flamengo's star - former international forward Olivinha Rodriguez (202-F-83). Rodriguez showcased his all-around game by recording 25 points, eleven rebounds (!!!) and four assists in the last round. He was another key player of Flamengo, helping his team with a 105-90 easy win against the lower-ranked Minas (#10, 8-8). Flamengo have amazing season winning all 16 games without a single defeat in Round 2. Rodriguez turns to be one of the very best players in the league while he is also a leader of the top team having his eyes on the championship title. Rodriguez has a great season in Brazil. After 15 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 9.6rpg (#1 in league).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Guilherme Giovannoni (202-F-80) of Brasilia - 20 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists
5. Betinho Nardi Duarte (195-G/F-88) of Minas - 27 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Fulvio de Assis (187-G-81) of S.Jose/Unimed - 16 points, 3 rebounds and 10 assists
7. Shamell Stallworth (196-SG-80) of Pinheiros/Sky - 22 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Jefferson Agba (209-F/C-80) of Bauru - 23 points and 9 rebounds
9. Welington Dos Santos (185-PG-81) of Brasilia - 16 points, 2 rebounds and 11 assists
10. Alex Ribeiro (191-G-80) of Brasilia - 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Mosso agreed with Minas - 2 days ago

Minas (NBB) strengthened their roster with addition of experienced 34-year old power forward Anderson Mosso (205-100kg-82, college: Chipola JC). It is actually his comeback to Minas as he has played here before. Mosso played in the summer at Contagem in the Mineira.
In 2006 (a year after he left the college) Fort Worth Flyers selected him as 0th overall pick in NBA draft
