BRANDON DAVIS
American Brandon Davis (198-G/F-88, agency: Pro Sports) had a very impressive game in the last round for league's leader Corinthians and that's him to receive a Interperformances Liga Ouro Player of the Week award for round 10. The 29-year old swingman had the game-high 28 points adding two rebounds for Corinthians in his team's victory, helping them to beat Brusque (#8, 2-10) 75-67. It allowed Corinthians to consolidate first place in the Brazilian Liga Ouro. Corinthians have a solid 10-2 record. In the team's last game Davis had a remarkable seven three-pointers out of 13 attempts. He just recently signed at Corinthians, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Lamar University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Davis is in league's top in points (3rd best: 17.0ppg) and averages solid 83.3% FGP and 46.7% from behind 3-point line.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 31-year old power forward Eric Soares (205-PF-86) of Cerrado. Soares impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 16 points and 16 rebounds. Bad luck as Cerrado lost that game 71-76 to the higher-ranked UniFacisa (#3, 8-5). Cerrado are still at the very bottom. 12 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Cerrado managed to get this year. Soares is one of the most experienced players at Cerrado and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.
The third best performed player last round was Rodrigo Silva (207-C-87) of Brusque (#8). Silva scored 11 points and grabbed eleven rebounds (!!!). Despite Silva's great performance Brusque lost 67-75 to the higher-ranked Corinthians (#1, 10-2). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Brusque can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 2-10 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Silva he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Silva has a very solid season. In 4 games in Brazil he scored 8.5ppg.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Isaac Thornton (190-G-91) of Macae - 17 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists 5. Paulo Da Costa (191-PG-94) of Cerrado - 29 points and 3 rebounds 6. Louis Munks (190-G-90) of Brasilia - 22 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists 7. Farad Cobb (183-PG-93) of UniFacisa - 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists 8. Chris Allen (190-G-88) of UniFacisa - 18 points and 5 rebounds 9. Bruno Lazzaris (202-F-90) of Blumenau - 18 points and 12 rebounds 10. Wilton Dos Santos (180-PG-89) of Cerrado - 15 points and 5 rebounds
