The round was exceptionally exciting as five games ended with a tiny margin. There was no lack of interesting games this round. The round ended with change at the leadership position, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

There was a change at the NBB leadership position after last games. Round 23 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Flamengo (15-6). They were defeated by tenth ranked Paulistano (11-11) 103-96 on Thursday night. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Flamengo. Paulistano dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Flamengo's 28. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 63.6 percentage. Paulistano looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for forward Lucas Dias-Silva (209-95) who led his team to a victory scoring 31 points and 5 rebounds. point guard Arthur Pecos (183-95) helped adding 11 points and 14 assists. The former international Marcelo Machado (201-75, agency: Interperformances) responded with 26 points and 8 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). Flamengo's coach Jose Neto rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Paulistano have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain tenth place with 11-11 record. Defending champion Flamengo still keeps top position with six games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Brasilia who have the same record. Flamengo will play next round against Caxias do Sul trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Paulistano will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
Important game to mention about took place in Salvador. Fifth ranked Mogi (14-8) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 3rd placed Universo/Vitoria (14-7) 63-60 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Universo/Vitoria. It was an exceptional evening for naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-80, college: USF, agency: Interperformances) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 7 rebounds. Tyrone Curnell accounted for 10 points and 11 rebounds. American forward Christopher Hayes (203-87, college: Detroit Mercy) came up with 9 points and 7 rebounds for Universo/Vitoria in the defeat. Mogi have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Bauru. Universo/Vitoria at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost. Mogi will play against league's leader Brasilia at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Universo/Vitoria will play against Paschoalotto/Bauru and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Macae managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the series of seven consecutive losses on Thursday night. This time they won against thirteenth-ranked Liga Sorocaba in Sorocabana 77-73. The best player for the winners was Kendall Anthony who scored 27 points. Enzo Cafferata produced 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the hosts. Liga Sorocaba's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Macae (4-18) moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with L.Sorocaba. Liga Sorocaba lost eleventh consecutive game. Macae will meet at home higher ranked Vasco Da G. (#9) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Liga Sorocaba will play against Pinheiros (#7) and hope to secure a win.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 23: Minas lost to Pinheiros on the opponent's court 92-95. B.Cearense unfortunately lost to Campo Mourao in a home game 75-81. Franca recorded a loss to Vasco Da G. on the road 77-79.

Caxias do Sul - Bauru 76-74

A very interesting game took place in Caxias do Sul. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Paschoalotto/Bauru (14-8) to thirteenth ranked Caxias do Sul (5-18) 76-74 on Friday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It was a great shooting night for Caxias do Sul especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.5 percentage. Point guard Patrick Vieira (186-93) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 8 rebounds. Rafael Stabile (194-88) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Very expected game in Sao Paolo where 12th ranked Minas (8-13) was edged by seventh ranked Pinheiros (13-9) 95-92 on Friday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Pinheiros dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Minas' 40. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Minas was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American guard Cordero Bennett (188-88) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 8 assists. His fellow American import guard Desmond Holloway (191-90, college: Co.Carolina) helped adding 18 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Drew Maynard (200-89, college: Rochester, MI) responded with 24 points and 8 rebounds and naturalized Italian point guard Paulinho Boracini (183-84) scored 22 points. Four Pinheiros and five Minas players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Pinheiros maintains seventh place with 13-9 record. Loser Minas keeps the twelfth position with 13 games lost. Pinheiros will face Liga Sorocaba (#14) in Sorocabana in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Minas will play on the road against Campo Mourao and hope to win that game.

The former international forward Felipe Ribeiro (201-79) responded with 27 points and 7 rebounds and the former international guard Eduardo Machado (193-82) scored 18 points and 4 steals. SKY/Basquete's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Campo Mourao moved-up to eighth place. The Regular Season in NBB is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 3 rounds. The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.
