Forward Lucas Dias Silva (209-F-95) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Paulistano, receiving a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 23.
The 21-year old player was the main contributor (31 points, five rebounds) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Flamengo (#2, 15-6) 103-96. Paulistano maintains the 10th position in Brazilian NBB. Paulistano is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 11-11 record. In the team's last game Dias Silva had a remarkable 62.5% from 2-point range and got five three-pointers out of 8 attempts. It was one of impressive evenings for him as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Lucas Dias Silva averages this season 10.5ppg.

The second best player in last round's games was 41-year old former international shooting guard Marcelo Machado (201-SG-75, agency: Interperformances) of league's second-best Flamengo. Machado had a very good evening with 26 points, 3 rebounds and 8 assists. Bad luck as Flamengo lost that game 96-103 to the lower-ranked Paulistano (#10, 11-11). This loss caused Flamengo to drop to 2nd position in the standings. His team's 15-6 record is not bad at all. Machado is one of the most experienced players at Flamengo and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.2ppg (#9). He also recorded 4.4 assists per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Drew Maynard (200-F-89) of Minas (#12). Maynard scored 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Despite Maynard's great performance Minas lost 92-95 to the higher-ranked Pinheiros (#7, 13-9). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Minas not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 13 games, recording just eight victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Maynard could try to bring Minas' a little bit higher in the standings. Maynard has individually a great season in Brazil. After 17 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 7.5rpg (5th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Cordero Bennett (188-G-88) of Pinheiros - 17 points, 4 rebounds and 8 assists
5. Kendall Anthony (173-PG-93) of Macae - 27 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Betinho Nardi Duarte (195-SG-88) of Campo Mourao - 26 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists
7. Ralfi Ansaloni (211-C-87) of Pinheiros - 16 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Desmond Holloway (191-G-90) of Pinheiros - 18 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Patrick Vieira (186-PG-93) of Caxias do Sul - 14 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Alex Garcia (191-G-80) of Bauru - 18 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
