Rodrigo
Maistro
Rodrigo Maistro (200-SF-87) had an amazing evening in the last round for second-ranked Contagem, receiving a Latinbasket.com Liga Ouro Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 29-year old player was the main contributor (21 points, seven rebounds and two assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Brusque (#5, 0-2), the league's bottom-ranked team 66-55. Contagem maintains the 2nd position in Brazilian Liga Ouro. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Contagem won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Maistro had a remarkable 90.0% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Contagem and just after two games he already turned to be a very valuable addition to the team. Rodrigo Maistro has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (4th best: 15.0ppg), rebounds (5th best: 6.5rpg) and averages impressive 2.5spg and 66.7% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 23-year old Gabriel De Oliveira (202-G-93) of Blumenau. De Oliveira had a very good evening with 21 points and 5 rebounds. Bad luck as Blumenau was edged by Joinville (1-0) 77-75. The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. De Oliveira is one of the most experienced players at Blumenau and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 21.0ppg (#1). He also registered 5.0 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was guard Luiz Nepomuceno (193-G-95) of Santos/Macapa (#6). Nepomuceno scored 23 points and grabbed five rebounds. Despite Nepomuceno's great performance Santos/Macapa lost 67-81 to Botafogo F.R. (#1, 2-0). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Santos/Macapa can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 2 games. Too bad for Nepomuceno he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Nepomuceno has individually a great season in Brazil. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.5ppg (2nd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Diego Silva (206-C/F-90) of Blumenau - 11 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Thiago Perez (191-G-82) of Contagem - 12 points, 2 rebounds and 6 assists
6. Luis Fernando Lima (193-G-93) of Santos/Macapa - 12 points and 4 rebounds
7. Rodrigo Bahia Bispo (206-C/F-79) of Botafogo F.R. - 16 points and 4 rebounds
8. Jamaal Smith (175-PG-85) of Botafogo F.R. - 18 points, 2 rebounds and 4 assists
9. Ulisses Lima (198-SF-85) of Santos/Macapa - 15 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Lucas Henrique Moreira (181-PG-94) of Blumenau - 14 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

NBB Round 20: Mogi defeats Caxias do Sul in the closest game of the week - 1 day ago
Here is the last round review presented by ESL. Eighth-ranked Caxias do Sul (10-11) gave a tough game to fourth ranked Mogi (15-4) in Mogi das Cruzes on Friday. Mogi managed to secure only one-point victory 76-75. However their fans expected much easier game. Mogi outrebounded Caxias do Sul 36-24 including 26 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international point guard Larry Taylor (185-80, college: Missouri Western) who helped to win the game reco...   [read more]
