The Regular Season in NBB is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 3 rounds. The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The most exciting game of round 27 in the NBB took place in Campo Mourao. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 8th ranked Campo Mourao (13-13) to seventh ranked Pinheiros (15-10) 83-81 on Wednesday evening. Pinheiros outrebounded Campo Mourao 38-27 including 28 on the defensive glass. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Desmond Holloway (191-90, college: Co.Carolina) who scored 23 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Cordero Bennett (188-88) chipped in 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Isaac Thornton (190-91, college: Fairmont St.) who recorded 31 points. Campo Mourao's coach Emerson Souza rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Pinheiros moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Vitoria. Campo Mourao lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Vasco Da G.. Pinheiros is looking forward to face league's second-placed Mogi in Mogi das Cruzes in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Campo Mourao will have a break next round.
Very important is a home loss of second ranked Brasilia (17-8) against fifth ranked Vivo/Franca (16-9) on Thursday night. Host Brasilia was defeated by Vivo/Franca in a tough game in Brasilia 88-92. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Brasilia. It was a good game for Pedro Lima (191-87) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 5 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Alexey Borges contributed with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Vivo/Franca's coach Helinho Garcia allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. International Guilherme Giovannoni (203-80) answered with 25 points and 5 rebounds for Brasilia. Vivo/Franca have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 16-9 record. Brasilia at the other side keeps the second position with eight games lost. They share it with Mogi. Vivo/Franca will play against Minas (#12) in Belo Horizonte in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Brasilia will play at home against Paschoalotto/Bauru (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Macae managed to get a sixth victory on Wednesday night. This time they won against sixth-ranked Universo/Vitoria in Salvador 90-84. It was a great evening for Kendall Anthony who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 7 assists. The best for the losing side was Kenny Dawkins with 34 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Macae (6-19) moved-up to thirteenth place. Loser Universo/Vitoria keeps the sixth position with ten games lost. They share it with Pinheiros. Macae will meet higher ranked SKY/Basquete (#11) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Universo/Vitoria will play against the league's leader Flamengo (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
Leader Flamengo delivered the eighteenth victory. This time they beat 11th ranked SKY/Basquete (10-15) 94-81 in Aldeota. It was a quality performance for Marquinhos Vieira who led the winners and scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Flamengo have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 18-6 record. SKY/Basquete lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 15 games lost. Flamengo's next round opponent will be Universo/Vitoria (#7) in Salvador which should be theoretically an easy game. SKY/Basquete will play at home against Macae (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Thirteenth-ranked Caxias do Sul (6-20) made lots of trouble for ninth ranked Paulistano (13-12) on Wednesday. The visitors from Sao Paolo managed to secure only two-point victory 82-80. However their fans expected much easier game. The best player for the winners was George Lucas who scored 9 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Paulistano moved-up to eighth place. Loser Caxias do Sul dropped to the fourteenth position with 20 games lost. Paulistano will face Vasco Da G. (#10) in Rio de Janeiro in the next round. Caxias do Sul will play at home against Liga Sorocaba (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 27 Bauru defeated Minas in a road game 89-77. Vasco Da G. smashed L.Sorocaba at home 89-66.

Brasilia - Franca 88-92

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Brasilia (17-8) against fifth ranked Vivo/Franca (16-9) on Thursday night. Host Brasilia was defeated by Vivo/Franca in a tough game in Brasilia 88-92. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Brasilia. Vivo/Franca made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. It was a good game for Pedro Lima (191-87) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 5 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Point guard Alexey Borges (188-95) contributed with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Vivo/Franca's coach Helinho Garcia allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. International Guilherme Giovannoni (203-80) answered with 25 points and 5 rebounds and the former international point guard Fulvio de-Assis (188-81) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 17 assists in the effort for Brasilia. Brasilia at the other side keeps the second position with eight games lost. They share it with Mogi. There was no surprise in Belo Horizonte where 12th ranked Minas (8-17) was defeated by fourth ranked Paschoalotto/Bauru (17-9) 89-77 on Thursday. Paschoalotto/Bauru looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was international guard Alex Garcia (191-80, agency: Interperformances) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international Jefferson Andrade (207-83) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds. Five Paschoalotto/Bauru players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Drew Maynard (200-89, college: Rochester, MI) who recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds and the former international guard Danilo Fuzaro (193-94) added 16 points and 6 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) respectively. Minas' coach Luiz Fernando Nery Leao tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Paschoalotto/Bauru maintains fourth place with 17-9 record. Minas lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 17 games lost. Paschoalotto/Bauru will face higher ranked Brasilia (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Vasco Da G. made 25-of-30 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Liga Sorocaba turnovers. Liga Sorocaba was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American guard David Jackson (195-82, college: Penn St.) who scored 22 points and 4 steals (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The former international point guard Welington Dos-Santos (185-81) chipped in 11 points, 8 assists and 4 steals. Four Vasco Da G. players scored in double figures.
