Mariano
23-year old Lucas Mariano (208-C/F-93) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Brasilia and receives a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 28.
He had a double-double of 26 points and 10 rebounds, while his team edged out Bauru (#5, 17-10) 92-89. Brasilia maintains the 3rd position in Brazilian league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Brasilia will need more victories to improve their 18-8 record. In the team's last game Mariano had a remarkable 56.3% from 2-point range. He turned to be Brasilia's top player in his first season with the team. Mariano has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (9th best: 17.4ppg) and averages solid 54.9% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Larry Taylor (185-PG-80) of league's second-best Mogi. He is naturalized American guard in his second season at Mogi. In the last game Taylor recorded impressive 22 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists. Of course Mogi cruised to a 90-78 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Pinheiros (#6, 15-11). Mogi's second position in the standings has not changed. His team's 18-8 record is not bad at all. Taylor is well-known at Mogi and he already established his position as one of the team's leaders.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Ronald Ramon (183-G-86) of league's leader Flamengo. Ramon scored 29 points. He was a key player of Flamengo, leading his team to a 93-87 win against the lower-ranked Vitoria (#7, 15-11). Flamengo confirms their top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 19 victories and 6 lost games. Ramon has a very solid season. In 24 games in Brazil he scored 9.8ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Olivinha Rodriguez (203-F-83) of Flamengo - 22 points and 10 rebounds
5. Desmond Holloway (191-G-90) of Pinheiros - 27 points and 6 rebounds
6. Jefferson Andrade (207-PF-83) of Bauru - 24 points and 7 rebounds
7. Alex Garcia (191-G-80) of Bauru - 23 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists
8. Tyrone Curnell (203-F-88) of Mogi - 29 points and 8 rebounds
9. Kendall Anthony (173-PG-93) of Macae - 21 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Alexey Borges (188-PG-95) of Franca - 15 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Mogi - Paulistano 82-99 Paulistano got to a confident start of NBB Finals. They cruised past Mogi das Cruzes on the road to grab the lead. The game was mostly controlled by Paulistano. Mogi managed to win third quarter 32-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international point guard Deryk Ramos (185-94) who helped to win the game recording 23 points.
