Rodrigo
Maistro
Rodrigo Maistro (200-SF-87) had a great game in the last round for second-ranked Contagem, receiving a Latinbasket.com Liga Ouro Player of the Week award for round 4.
The 29-year old player was the main contributor (24 points, four rebounds and three assists) to his team's victory, helping them to edge out Joinville (#3, 3-3) 92-90. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Contagem maintains the 2nd position in Brazilian Liga Ouro. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Contagem will need more victories to improve their 6-2 record. Maistro just recently signed at Contagem, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Rodrigo Maistro has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (3rd best: 15.1ppg) and averages impressive 60.3% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 25-year old Maxwell Dias (198-SF-91) of Joinville. Dias had a very good evening with a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds. Bad luck as Joinville was edged by slightly higher-ranked Contagem (#2, 6-2) 92-90. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Joinville still maintains its place in the top 3 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team's 3-3 record is not bad at all. Dias is one of the most experienced players at Joinville and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American guard Deonta Stocks (185-G-88) of Blumenau (#4). Stocks scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds. He was a key player of Blumenau, leading his team to a 81-70 win against slightly lower-ranked Santos/Macapa (#5, 3-5). The chances of Blumenau ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 4 games, recording just three victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Stocks could help Blumenau to bring them higher in the standings. Stocks has a great season in Brazil. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 12.5ppg (7th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Tarvin Gaines (198-SF-91) of Blumenau - 23 points and 6 rebounds
5. Ricardo de Azevedo (201-F-83) of Santos/Macapa - 16 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Wesley Russell (193-G-93) of Botafogo F.R. - 13 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Jeferson Froehlich (193-PG-91) of Joinville - 15 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Everton Oliveira (203-F-93) of Contagem - 13 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Junio Dos Santos (192-G-95) of Contagem - 20 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Fernando Alvim (201-F-80) of Contagem - 12 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Center Feliciano Perez (210-C-90) put on an amazing game in the last round for top-ranked Botafogo F.R., receiving a Latinbasket.com Liga Ouro Player of the Week award for round 7. The 26-year old player had a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds, while his team crushed Santos/Macapa (#5, 4-8) with 22-point margin 101-79. It allowed Botafogo F.R. to consolidate first place in the Brazilian Liga Ouro. Botafogo F.R. have a solid 10-2 record. It was one of impressive evenings for Perez...   [read more]

Liga Ouro Round 7: Blumenau loses to Joinville in the game between Top 4 teams - 2 days ago
Host teams show no mercy winning all games. Very significant was Joinville's (#3, 7-4) victory against 4th placed Blumenau (4-7) 78-74. It was a great evening for guard Lucas Vezaro (188-96) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points. point guard Jeferson Froehlich (193-91) helped adding 15 points and 6 rebounds. Joinville's coach George Salles used entire bench in such tough game. At the losing side American guard Deonta Stocks (185-88, college: W.Georgia) responded with 20 points.    [read more]
