Murilo
Becker
Experienced Former international Murilo Becker (211-C/F-83) had a very impressive game in the last round for Vasco Da G. and that's him to receive a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 30.
The 33-year old had a double-double of 26 points and fourteen rebounds, while his team beat Pinheiros (#6, 16-12) 85-80. Vasco Da G. is placed at 9th position in Brazilian NBB. Vasco Da G. is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 14-14 record. It was one of impressive evenings for Becker as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Murilo Becker averages this season 10.7ppg and 5.6rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 29-year old American point guard Kenny Dawkins (175-PG-87) of Vitoria. Dawkins impressed basketball fans with 26 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists. Bad luck as Vitoria lost that game 66-83 to Paulistano (16-12). This loss caused Vitoria to drop to 7th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 16-12 record is not bad and everything may still change. Dawkins is a newcomer at Vitoria and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was former international center Leonardo Klassmann (208-C-89) of B.Cearense (#11). Klassmann scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds. He was a key player of B.Cearense, leading his team to a 65-63 win against the lower-ranked L.Sorocaba (#15, 6-22). The chances of B.Cearense ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 16 games, recording just twelve victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Klassmann could help B.Cearense to bring them higher in the standings. Klassmann has a great season in Brazil. After 27 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 6.6rpg (8th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. David Jackson (195-G-82) of Vasco Da G. - 16 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Andre Bresolin (195-SG-87) of Vitoria - 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists
6. Arthur Pecos (183-PG-95) of Paulistano - 13 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists
7. George Lucas (195-PG-96) of Paulistano - 11 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists
8. Alexey Borges (188-PG-95) of Franca - 16 points, 3 rebounds and 8 assists
9. Shamell Stallworth (195-SG-80) of Mogi - 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Cordero Bennett (188-G-88) of Pinheiros - 16 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Liga Ouro Round 7: Blumenau loses to Joinville in the game between Top 4 teams - 2 days ago
Host teams show no mercy winning all games. Very significant was Joinville's (#3, 7-4) victory against 4th placed Blumenau (4-7) 78-74. It was a great evening for guard Lucas Vezaro (188-96) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points. point guard Jeferson Froehlich (193-91) helped adding 15 points and 6 rebounds. Joinville's coach George Salles used entire bench in such tough game. At the losing side American guard Deonta Stocks (185-88, college: W.Georgia) responded with 20 points.    [read more]
