Wesley Sena
Talented Wesley Sena (210-C/F-96) had a very impressive game in the last round for league's second-best Contagem and that's him to receive a Latinbasket.com Liga Ouro Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 20-year old had the game-high 32 points adding six rebounds for Contagem in his team's victory, helping them to beat Blumenau (#5, 3-5) 72-65. Contagem maintains the 2nd position in Brazilian Liga Ouro. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Contagem will need more victories to improve their 7-2 record. In the team's last game Sena had a remarkable 60.0% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Contagem and just after two games he already turned to be a very valuable addition to the team. Wesley Sena averages just after two games 22.5ppg and 6.5rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 24-year old swingman Durval Prado (200-G/F-92) of Brusque. Prado impressed basketball fans with 7 points, 24 rebounds and 6 assists. Bad luck as Brusque lost that game 59-68 to slightly higher-ranked Santos/Macapa (#4, 4-6). Brusque are still at the very bottom. 9 lost games are too many considering they did not win any game. Prado is well-known by Brusque fans and he already established his position as one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was Spanish Jose Victor Jeronimo (208-C-91) of Joinville (#3). Jeronimo scored 12 points and grabbed fifteen rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Joinville, leading his team to a 68-53 easy win against Brusque (#6, 0-9). Joinville needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 5 victories and 3 lost games. Jeronimo has a great season in Brazil. After only 6 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 6.7rpg (8th best). Jose Victor Jeronimo has also Brazilian passport and can play in the league with a status of domestic player.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Maxwell Dias (198-SF-91) of Joinville - 20 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Luis Fernando Lima (193-G-93) of Santos/Macapa - 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists
6. Diego Silva (206-C/F-90) of Blumenau - 17 points and 10 rebounds
7. Rodrigo Silva (207-C-87) of Brusque - 18 points and 5 rebounds
8. Tarvin Gaines (198-SF-91) of Blumenau - 13 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Lucas Vezaro (188-G-96) of Joinville - 20 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Jeferson Froehlich (193-PG-91) of Joinville - 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Mogi - Paulistano 68-78 Paulistano defeated Mogi on the road to force the decisive fifth game in the series. The game was mostly controlled by Paulistano. Mogi managed to win fourth quarter 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of international forward Lucas Dias-Silva (209-95) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 5 rebounds and American-Peruvian point guard Kyle Fuller (185-92, college: Vanderbilt)...   [read more]

Mogi - Paulistano 84-89 Paulistano topped Mogi on the road to cut the deficit in the semifinal series. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Mogi won third quarter 27-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Paulistano made 22-of-24 charity shots (91.7 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American-Peruvian point guard Kyle Fuller (185-92, college: Vanderbilt) who led the winners with a double-d...   [read more]

Campo Mourao welcomes back Vinicius Pastor - 2 days ago
Campo Mourao (NBB) tabbed 27-year old power forward Vinicius Oliveira (200-90). It is actually his comeback to Campo Mourao as he has played here before. Oliveira played in the summer at Osasco Basquete in the Paulista. In 15 games he averaged 9.2ppg, 4   [read more]
