Liga Ouro is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 6 rounds left.

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Botafogo F.R. as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Botafogo F.R. defeated 3rd ranked Joinville in Rio de Janeiro 81-68. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Joinville. Botafogo F.R. dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Joinville's 26. They outrebounded Joinville 38-27 including 27 on the offensive glass. It was a good game for American guard Wesley Russell (193-93, college: Ohio Christian) who led his team to a victory with 17 points. The other American import point guard Jamaal Smith (175-85, college: N.Mexico) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Guard Lucas Vezaro (188-96) replied with 34 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 4 assists (went 13 for 13 at the free throw line !!!) for Joinville. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Contagem. Joinville at the other side keeps the third place with four games lost. Joinville will play next round against strong Blumenau trying to get back on the winning streak. Botafogo F.R. will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Santos/Macapa at home.

Power forward Wesley Sena (210-96) scored 17 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Rafa Oliveira chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Contagem's coach Leo Alves allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was forward Bruno Lazzaris (202-90) with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Contagem have a solid four-game winning streak. They used an opportunity after Botafogo F.R. lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Blumenau at the other side dropped to the fourth place with six games lost. They share the position with Santos/Macapa. Contagem will play against bottom-ranked Brusque (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Blumenau will play against Joinville and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Bottom-ranked Brusque is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their tenth consecutive match to fifth ranked Blumenau (4-6) 102-73. Blumenau players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Brusque's players. The best player for the winners was American Tarvin Gaines (198-91, college: Jacksonville St.) who scored 25 points and 7 rebounds. The other American import guard Deonta Stocks (185-88, college: W.Georgia) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. Five Blumenau players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Willian da-Silva (200-81) who recorded 16 points and swingman Durval Prado (200-92) added 6 points and 13 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Blumenau moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Santos/Macapa. Brusque at the other side still closes the standings with ten games lost. Mogi - Paulistano 84-89 Paulistano topped Mogi on the road to cut the deficit in the semifinal series. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half.
