Lucas Vezaro
20-year old guard Lucas Vezaro (188-G-96) had an amazing evening in the last round for Joinville and receives a Latinbasket.com Liga Ouro Player of the Week award for round 6.
He had the game-high 34 points adding six rebounds and four assists for Joinville as his team lost the game against Botafogo F.R. (#1, 8-2) 68-81. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Joinville maintains the 3rd position in Brazilian Liga Ouro. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Joinville will need to avoid more loses keep or improve their 7-4 record. In the team's last game Vezaro had a remarkable five three-pointers out of 8 attempts. He turned to be Joinville's top player in his first season with the team. Vezaro has impressive league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 17.5ppg. Vezaro is in league's top in and averages solid 50.8% FGP and 41.9% from behind 3-point line.

Second best performed player last round was Tarvin Gaines (198-SF-91) of Blumenau. He is American in his first season at Blumenau. In the last game Gaines recorded impressive 25 points and 7 rebounds. Of course he led Blumenau to another comfortable win outscoring Brusque (#6, 0-10) 102-73. Despite this victory Blumenau slide down in the standings to 5th position. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 4-7 record. Gaines is one of the most experienced players at Blumenau and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 15.9ppg (#3). He also registered 6.1 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Abner Moreira (206-F/C-89) of league's leader Botafogo F.R.. Moreira scored 11 points and grabbed thirteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Moreira's great performance Botafogo F.R. lost 62-66 to #3 ranked Joinville. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. Botafogo F.R. had another "accident". It may be a crucial game and cause dropping from the group of top ranked teams. The record is still good, but 2nd lost game is hopefully really an accident. Moreira's teammates are also very good. That's why having such high stats is even more impressive. Moreira has a great season in Brazil. After 10 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.9rpg (2nd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Rafa Oliveira (200-SF-93) of Contagem - 18 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Willian da Silva (200-SF-81) of Brusque - 16 points and 4 rebounds
6. Maxwell Dias (198-SF-91) of Joinville - 16 points and 10 rebounds
7. Jamaal Smith (175-PG-85) of Botafogo F.R. - 20 points and 3 rebounds
8. Diego Silva (206-C/F-90) of Blumenau - 12 points and 10 rebounds
9. Bruno Lazzaris (202-F-90) of Blumenau - 12 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Wesley Russell (193-G-93) of Botafogo F.R. - 17 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
