Cuba wins first place with perfect record - Aug 8, 2011

Cuba - Bahamas 85-54
Cuba finished CBC Championship in Nassau with perfect 5-0 record. Of course Cuba won the first place at this event. In the last day of the competition Cuba destroyed Bahamas 85-54 and booked a ticket for CentroBasket 2012. Bahamas finished as No.4 in Nassau. The host of this event had 1-4 score. Taimy Fernandez (183-F-82) top-scored for the winners with 22 points. Clenia Noblet (191-C-87) had 18 points and 13 boards, while Yamara Amargo (180-F-85) added 14 pts. In defeat, Philicia Kelly (90) was better than the others with 15 points and 6 rebounds. Malesha Petterson (173-G-92) stopped to 10 pts. Quarters: 20-10, 14-14, 25-19, 26-11.

Trinidad and Tobago - Dominican Republic 82-76
Trinidad and Tobago won the second place in CBC Championship 2011. They handed 82-76 loss to Dominican Republic in the last day of the competition ending it with almost perfect 4-1 record. It means that T&T booked a ticket for the CentroBasket 2012. Dominican Republic finished as No.4 with 2-3 record. They will not play next year in CentroBasket. Melissa Guerrero (180-G-83) exploded in victory with 33 points and 10 rebounds. Jowan Ortega (173-G-85, college: UMKC) had 17 points and 8 boards, while Chenell Harris (89) added 13 pts and 6 as. In the loosing squad, Carmen Guzman (175-G-85, agency: Merit Sports, college: UAB) collected 26 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Sugeiry Monsac (186-F/C-81) added 14 pts and 10 rebs. Quarters: 11-18, 16-20, 29-22, 26-16.

U.S. Virgin Islands - Saint Vincent 92-70
As expected, US Virgin Islands were too strong for Saint Vincent 92-70 in the last day of the CBC Championship in Nassau. US Virgin Islands won third place at this event with 3-2 record. They also booked a ticket for the CentroBasket 2012. On the other side, Saint Vincent ended as the last ranked team in Nassau. They had poor 0-5 record. Natalie Day (182-G/F-90) exploded for the winners with 36 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Yanique Javois (176-G-85, college: St.Louis) also was great as she added 27 points and 8 rebounds. In defeat, Vasha Adams (83) collected 23 pts and 12 boards. Their second scorer was Nathifa Weekes (170-G-85) with 12 pts. Quarters: 21-14, 19-20, 20-19, 32-17.

Day Four in Nassau - Aug 7, 2011

Cuba - Saint Vincent 97-37
Nothing new in Nassau as Cuba registered their fourth straight win. They blasted Saint Vincent 97-37 for perfect 4-0 record at the CBC Championship 2011. On the other side, Saint Vincent stays winless after four appearances. Leidys Oquendo (180-F-82) and Taimy Fernandez (183-F-82) scored 16 points reach for Cuba. They grabbed 7 and 6 rebounds respectively. Oyanaisy Gelis (172-G-83) helped with 12 points and 7 assists. In defeat, Nathifa Weekes (170-G-85) was better than the others with 15 points. Their second scorer was Vasha Adams (83) with 8 points (8 rebs). Quarters: 26-7, 23-9, 19-9, 29-12. In Day Five, Cuba will meet the host Bahamas. Saint Vincent will play against the US Virgin Islands.

Trinidad and Tobago - U.S. Virgin Islands 76-68
Third victory for Trinidad and Tobago in Nassau. They outplayed US Virgin Islands yesterday 76-68 for 3-1 record at the CBC Championship 2011. US Virgin Islands dropped to 1-2. Jowan Ortega (173-G-85, college: UMKC) shined for the winners with 20 points. Chenell Harris (89) had 16 points and 8 rebounds, while Melissa Guerrero (180-G-83) added 13 pts, plus 7 rebs. In the loosing squad, Natalie Day (182-G/F-90) was way better than the others with 29 points and 9 rebounds. She reached valuation 35. Second scorer in loss was Yanique Javois (176-G-85, college: St.Louis) with 13 pts. Quarters: 15-15, 27-15, 11-15, 23-23. Today, Trinidad and Tobago will meet Dominican Republic. US Virgin Islands will play against winless Saint Vincent.

Bahamas - Dominican Republic 54-73
Dominican Republic registered their second victory at the CBC Championship 2011. They handed 73-54 loss to home squad jumping to 2-1 record. Bahamas dropped to 1-3 after this meeting. Andreina Paniagua (183-F-78) stepped up for the winners with 19 points. Carmen Guzman (175-G-85, agency: Merit Sports, college: UAB) had 15 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists, while Sugeiry Monsac (186-F/C-81) added 12 pts, plus 7 rebs. Saint Vincent - Trinidad and Tobago 59-73
Second win for Trinidad and Tobago in Nassau. It was a Day Three of the CBC Championship and T&T cruised past Saint Vincent 73-59 for 2-1 record at this event. On the other side, Saint Vincent dropped to 0-3. Melissa Guerrero (180-G-83) was the leading player in victory with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Rhea Codio (165-G-88) had 12 points and 7 assists, while Jowan Ortega (173-G-85, college: UMKC) also helped with 12 pts. In the loosing squad, Shavern Weekes top-scored with 16 points (5 rebs). Galeine Gordon (85) also was good adding 14 points and 12 rebounds. Quarters: 17-17, 18-17, 18-16, 6-23. Today, T&T will meet US Virgin Islands. Saint Vincent will take on Cuba in their search for the first win in Nassau.

Dominican Republic - Cuba 73-80
Cuba registered third straight win in Nassau. This time Cuba was better than Dominican Republic handing them 80-73 loss for perfect 3-0 record. On the other side, Dominican Republic dropped to 1-1. Yamara Amargo (180-F-85) led the winners with 20 points. Marlen Cepeda (193-C-85) had double-double of 18 points and 14 rebounds, while Taimy Fernandez (183-F-82) added 15 points and 6 rebs. In defeat, Carmen Guzman (175-G-85, agency: Merit Sports, college: UAB) shined with 39 points. Their second scorer was Andreina Paniagua (183-F-78) with 12 points. Quarters: 17-22, 10-25, 23-16, 23-17. In Day Four, Cuba will meet Saint Vincent. Dominican Republic will play against the host Bahamas.

Bahamas - U.S. Virgin Islands 61-67
First victory for the US Virgin Islands in Nassau. They outplayed Bahamas 67-61 for 1-1 record in CBC Championship 2011. On the other side, the host of this event dropped to 1-2. Natalie Day (182-G/F-90) was a key player for the winners with 27 points and 14 rebounds. She reached impressive valuation 36. Yanique Javois (176-G-85, college: St.Louis) was the second scorer in victory with 18 points. The hosts got 13 points and 6 rebounds from Taneil Poitier (90). Philicia Kelly (90) netted 10 points. Cuba registered second straight win in Nassau. After 80-32 victory against Trinidad and Tobago in Day One, Cuba was too strong for the US Virgin Islands handing them 87-42 loss. It means that Cuba has perfect 2-0 after two days of CBC Championship. On the other side, it was the first appearance at this event for US Virgin Islands (0-1). Suchitel Avila (183-F-82) was the leading scorer in victory with 17 points. Taimy Fernandez (183-F-82) had 13 points and Marlen Cepeda (193-C-85) added 12 pts, plus 13 rebounds. In the loosing squad, Natalie Day (182-G/F-90) collected 10 points and 6 boards. Their second scorer was Lanese Bough (168-G-93) with 7 pts. Quarters: 8-25, 9-24, 11-14, 14-24. In Day Three, Cuba will meet Dominican Republic. US Virgin Islands will play against the host Bahamas.

Dominican Republic celebrated in their first appearance in Nassau. They handed 82-68 loss to Saint Vincent for 1-0 record at the CBC Championship 2011. On the other side, Saint Vincent dropped to 0-2. They failed in Day One against Bahamas 47-52. Carmen Guzman (175-G-85, agency: Merit Sports, college: UAB) exploded with 28 points and 5 assists for the winners. Trinidad and Tobago registered their first win in Nassau. They outplayed the host of CBC Championship 49-45 and joined the with 1-1 record. T&T failed in Day One against Cuba 32-80, while Bahamas handed 52-47 loss to Saint Vincent. Chenell Harris (89) stepped up fort the winners yesterday with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Rhea Codio (165-G-88) scored 10 points and Pietra Gay (183-G-74) added 7 pts, plus 7 rebounds. In Bahamas, Linda Pierre (82) collected 12 points and 5 boards. Their second scorer was Anastacia Sands-Moultrie (C-77) with 12 points and she also grabbed 5 rebounds beside that. Quarters: 12-15, 15-11, 12-14, 10-5. In Day Three, T&T will meet Saint Vincent. Bahamas will take on the USA Virgin Islands.
