Bahamas celebrate title in Tortola - Jul 6, 2014

Cuba - Bahamas 64-75
Bahamas are the CBC champions. They overcame Cuba in the Final in Tortola. Alonzo Hinds (180-G-84) and Marvin Gray (178-G-83) nailed 22 points each for the winners. Cuba earned a 17:14 lead after the first period. Bahamas turned things around in the second frame. They surged ahead for a 34:29 halftime advantage. Bahamas maintained the lead throughout the third term. They accumulated an 8-point advantage heading into the fourth period. Bahamas nailed 24 points in the final stanza and triumphed at the tournament. Magnum Rolle (211-C/F-86, college: Louisiana Tech) had 12 points for the winners. Jasul Rivero (203-F/C-93) responded with 15 points for Cuba. Yasser Rodriguez (187-PG-88) had 9 points in the defeat.
3-4 Place
U.S. Virgin Islands - British Virgin Islands 102-68
US Virgin Islands earned CBC Championship Bronze. They knocked down hosting British Virgin Islands to finish in the third position. US Virgin Islands also booked the final ticket to the 2014 Centrobasket tournament with the victory. British Virgin Islands earned a 23:20 lead after the first frame. But US Virgin Islands stepped on the gas in the second period. They raced to a 44:37 halftime advantage. US Virgin Islands poured in 28 points in the third period to build an 18-point buffer at the final break. US Virgin Islands unleashed 30 points in the fourth frame and sealed the winning result. Cuthbert Victor (197-F-83, college: Murray St.) had 20 points for the winners. Devon Peltier (180-PG-87, college: CS Fullerton) added 17 points in the victory. Rashid Cann answered with 19 points and 11 rebounds for British Virgin Islands. Kennedy Bass (196-F-81, college: Anderson, SC) tossed in 14 points in the defeat.

5-6 Place
Barbados - Guyana 58-79
Guyana wrapped up their CBC Championship campaign with back-to-back victories. They held off Barbados yesterday to occupy the 5th overall position. Gordon Klaiber (206-F-83, college: Fair Dickinson) provided 17 points for the winners. Guyana eked out a 15:13 lead after the opening quarter. They extended the margin to as many as 7 points at the interval 33:26. Guyana stayed in charge throughout the third term. They accumulated a 56:47 lead heading into the fourth frame. Guyana went on a 23:11 run in the final stanza and sealed the winning outcome. Dwayne Roberts (C) and Andrew Ifill (197-F-79) had 16 points each for Guyana. Akeem Marsh (206-F/C-87) answered with 14 points for Barbados. David Gilles (179-G-75) netted 13 points in the loss.

7-8 Place
Antigua - Saint Vincent 109-81
Antigua finished their CBC Championship campaign on a high note. They toppled Saint Vincent to occupy the seventh position in the final standings. Mario Davis (198-F/G-80, college: Missouri Western) posted 23 points and 8 rebounds to lead Antigua to the victory. Antigua grabbed a 24:14 lead ten minutes into the game. They unleashed 32 points in the second period to take a 17-point halftime lead. Antigua stayed red-hot offensively in the third quarter. They unleashed 27 points to secure a comfortable 24-point buffer before the final stanza. Antigua sank 26 points in the fourth term to seal the winning outcome. Ernest Scott netted 22 points, while Sharife Sergeant (201-F-92) had 20 points in the victory. Kyle Williams (189-G/F-88) answered with 29 points for Saint Vincent. John Gardiner had 16 points and 9 caroms in the loss.

British Virgin Islands - Bahamas 65-84
Bahamas advanced into the CBC Championship Final. They held off British Virgin Islands in the semifinal clash tonight to reach the title game. Bahamas also punched the Centrobasket ticket with the victory. The teams stayed on level terms throughout the opening quarter. The scoreboard read 20:20 after ten minutes. Bahamas pulled ahead in the second frame. They went on an 18:8 run to secure a 10-point halftime lead. The visitors kept British Virgin Islands at distance throughout the third term. They entered the fourth period up by 12 points 59:47. Bahamas unloaded 25 points in the final stanza to seal the win. Marvin Gray (178-G-83) scored 17 points for Bahamas. Kadeem Coleby (206-C-89) added 15 points for the winners. Steve Parillon (196-F-78, college: Henderson St.) answered with 17 points for British Virgin Islands. Norville Carey (196-F) netted 13 points in the loss.

Cuba - U.S. Virgin Islands 62-60
Cuba snatched a tough victory over ambitious US Virgin Islands and advanced into CBC Championship title game. They will now take on Bahamas for the trophy. Cuba also qualified for 2014 Centrobasket tournament with the victory. Jasiel Rivero scored 19 points to pace the winners. Cuba raced to a 20:8 lead after the opening frame. US Virgin Islands stopped the rot in the second quarter. They pulled within 7 points at the interval. US Virgin Islands pulled as close as 4 points at the final intermission. They narrowed the distance to just a single point late in the game but Granda sank a decisive free throw sealing the win for Cuba. Yordanis Jaca (195-PF-83) had 12 points, while Joan Luis Haiti (200-C-82) added 11 points for the winnners. Aaron Brown (196-F-92) responded with 19 points for US Virgin Islands. Cuthbert Victor (197-F-83, college: Murray St.) had 14 points in the defeat.
5-8 Place
Antigua - Barbados 70-83
Barbados will play for the 5th position at the CBC Championship. They held off Antigua in the classification round clash. Akeem Marsh (206-F/C-87) delivered 21 points to lead the winners. Barbados jumped to a 23:19 lead after ten minutes. Antigua cut the deficit in the second frame. They eventually tied things up at 35 at the interval. Barbados however picked up the tempo in the third term. They dropped 25 points and ensured a 9-point lead at the final intermission. Barbados accounted for 23 points in the fourth term and sealed the victory. Ramon Simmons had 15 points, while Andre Lockhart added 10 points for Barbados. Sharife Sergeant (201-F-92) responded with 14 points for Antigua. Mario Davis (198-F/G-80, college: Missouri Western) and Lennox McCoy had 13 points each in the defeat.

Saint Vincent - Guyana 72-86
Guyana earned the first victory at the CBC Championship. They held off Saint Vincent in the classification round of the tournament. Rawle Marshall (201-SF-82, agency: Beo Basket, college: Oakland) stepped up with 28 points to pace the winners. Guyana posted a 23:16 lead after the first frame. They extended the lead in the next two quarters. Guyana entered the fourth period up by 18 points. Saint Vincent cut the distance in the fourth frame but could not avoid the defeat. Ray Victor (186-G, college: Warner) delivered 22 points, while Gordon Klaiber (206-F-83, college: Fair Dickinson) added 14 points for the winners. Bahamas clinched the top position in preliminary round Group A. They upset previously undefeated Cuba to set up the semifinal clash versus British Virgin Islands. Cuba will face US Virgin Islands in the semis. Magnum Rolle (211-C/F-86, college: Louisiana Tech) stepped up with 26 points to pace the winners. Bahamas silenced their opponents in the first frame. They went on a 22:9 run to secure a comfortable lead. Cuba adjusted defensively in the second period. They pulled within 9 points at the interval 25:34. Cuba cut the deficit in the third term. They got within 4 points at the final break 50:54. But Bahamas sank 23 points in the fourth stanza and escaped with a narrow win at the end. Ray Rose (183-G-83, college: Olivet Nazarene) chipped in 17 points, while Kadeem Coleby added 16 points for the winners. William Granda (189-SG-85) topscored with 18 points for Cuba. Esteban Martinez (192-F-87) had 11 points in the loss.

Saint Vincent - Antigua 93:92
Saint Vincent claimed the first victory at the CBC Championship. They wrapped up their Group A campaign with a narrow win over Antigua. Kyle Williams (189-G/F-88) banked in 37 points and 14 boards to pace the winners. Both Saint Vincent and Antigua are now tied at 1-2 record in the ladder. Saint Vincent dominated throughout the bigger part of the game. They registered an 18:16 lead after ten minutes. Saint Vincent boosted the margin at 7-point mark at halftime 40:33. Saint Vincent cleared off to a 13-point lead at the final intermission. However Antigua went on a furious comeback rally in the fourth term. They pulled within two points late in regulation before Sean Baptiste (190-G-88, agency: Prossin Sports Management Inc., college: Fair Dickinson) sank two free throws and sealed the victory for Saint Vincent. He finished with 22 points in the win. Ernest Scott (201-F-82, college: Valdosta St.) answered with 29 points for Antigua. Jerome Richardson connected for 27 points and 11 boards in the loss.

Group B
US Virgin Islands - British Virgin Islands 89:60

US Virgin Islands claimed the third consecutive victory at the CBC Championship. They knocked down British Virgin Islands to occupy the top position in Group B. Aaron Brown (196-F-92) scored 19 points to lead the winners. US Virgin Islands will now take on Cuba, while British Virgin Islands will face Bahamas in the semifinals.
US Virgin Islands dominated throughout the game. They piled up a 20:7 lead ten minutes into the encounter. They stretched the gap at 25-point mark at the interval 46:21. US Virgin Islands boosted the margin at 32-point mark before the fourth frame and never looked back en route to the win. Jason Edwin (197-G/F-81, college: Kent St.) netted 17 points, while Angel Rivera added 14 points for the winners. Norville Carey (196-F) responded with 15 points for British Virgin Islands. Halstead Chiverton had 11 points in the defeat.

Barbados - Guyana 80:69
Barbados earned the opening victory at the CBC Championship in British Virgin Islands. They held off Guyana to improve at 1-2 record in Group B. Barbados will now take on Antigua in the classification round. Guyana will face Saint Vincent looking for the initial win at the tournament.
Barbados set the tone early in the game. They unleashed 53 points in the first half to secure a 25-point lead. Guyana cut the deficit at 16-point mark at the final break but could not erase such a massive deficit in the fourth quarter. Keefe Birkett (G) chipped in 28 points to pace Barbados. Akeem Marsh (206-F/C-87) added 13 points for the winners. Rawle Marshall (201-SF-82, agency: Beo Basket, college: Oakland) responded with 21 points for Guyana. Cuba recorded an 18:14 lead after the first frame. They maintained the lead throughout the second term. Cuba accounted for a 40:31 halftime lead. The margin kept on growing throughout the third term. Cuba piled up a 14-point advantage heading into the final stanza. They finished the game on a 24:10 rally to seal a comfortable victory. Joan Luis Haiti (200-C-82) had 16 points, while Jasul Rivero (203-F/C-93) added 13 points for the winning side. Nyika Williams (203-F/C-87, college: Pacific) and John Gardiner (203-C-83, college: Sam Houston St.) responded with 17 points each for Saint Vincent.

Antigua - Bahamas 90:68

Aaron Brown (196-F-92) stepped up with 19 points to lead the charge. US Virgin Islands unleashed 29 points in the first frame gaining a 15-point lead. They stretched the gap at 22-point mark at the interval. Guyana exploded with 50 points after the long break but could not avoid a heavy defeat at the end. Devon Peltier (180-PG-87, college: CS Fullerton) scored 15 points, while Jamaal Samuel added 10 points for the winners. Rawle Marshall (201-SF-82, agency: Beo Basket, college: Oakland) answered with 23 points for Guyana. Andrew Ifill (197-F-79) delivered 14 points in the loss.

British Virgin Islands - Barbados 81:77
British Virgin Islands secured the second consecutive victory at the start of the CBC Championship. They knocked down Barbados to remain perfect at home tournament. Randy George (200-F-81, college: Henderson St.) accounted for 19 points and 10 rebounds in the victory.
British Virgin Islands ensured a quick start to the game. They posted a 25:10 lead ten minutes into the game. The margin grew at 20-point mark at halftime 47:27. But Barbados turned the tables in the second half. The visitors pulled within 9 points at the final intermission.
