The Mexican national-team is currently preparing for the COCABA tournament which they are going to host this month. Visiting Japan was a first test for the Mexicans and they lost it 79-92 mainly due to a poor second quarter to the Asians. Andre Joseph Tyronzic (191-G-81, college: Oregon) top-scored for the hosts with 23 points. Team Nicaragua completed a successful campaign in San Salvador, advancing to COCABA Final Four at the end of three days of play. After falling to favourite team Costa Rica, 83-65 in Day 1, the team coached by Angel Mallona upset home team El Salvador, 70-66 in Day 2, with Walter Roberts (188-F-85) leading the way, and then defeated Honduras in the decisive Day 3, at the end of a very close game, who needed of an OT to find the winner   [read more]

After defeating Nicaragua in Day 1 and then Honduras, 67-40 in Day 2, Team Costa Rica ended the second leg of COCABA Championship undefeated, thanks to the win, 63-60 over home team El Salvador yesterday night. The game was very close, because El Salvador was in strong need of a win to stay in COCABA race, after the unexpected loss suffered on saturday night by Nicaragua, 66-70.    [read more]
