Mexico wins the title in El Salvador - Aug 26, 2013

El Salvador - Mexico 58-75
Mexico wins the title in El Salvador at the COCABA Final Four Championship for Women. They overcame the hosts 75:58 and improved to 3-0 record to win the trophy. El Salvador meanwhile finished on the second place with 2-1 record. Both teams entered the game undefeated and needed one more win for the title. El Salvador surprised Mexico with a 13-7 start, but then Mexico replied with 21-12 rally in the second period. Mexico added 26-16 run in the third period and finished the game with a 21-17 rally. MORALES CASTRO top-scored for the winners with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while SILVA netted 13. OROZCO GOLLAZ and GARCIA poured in 12 points each. Hillary Martinez (172-SF) and Maria Escobar (180-C) answered with 11 points each in a loss. Gladis Maravilla (184-C-85) and Calderon Monica added 7 apiece.

Honduras - Costa Rica 49-76
Costa Rica clinch third place at the COCABA Final Four Championship for Women. They overcame Honduras 76:49 in the last game of the competition and improved to 1-2 record. Honduras meanwhile finished with 0-3 record in the fourth place. Both teams entered the game without victories and hoped to achieve the first W at the tournament. Costa Rica started the game with 20-16 rally and added 16-13 run in the second period. Honduras replied with a 12-8 in the third quarter, but could not compete with the opponents in the last quarter. Costa Rica erupted with a 32-8 surge to seal the victory. MATAMOROS SOLIS top-scored for the winners with 17 points and MALAVASSI ALVAREZ nailed 16. GALVEZ MORALES delivered 12, while ALVARADO IBANEZ netted 10. Jani Martinez replied with 11 points in a loss, while Danalid Jackson (69) and Ortega Krystal had 8 each. Williams Hellen and Nelly Rapalo delivered 7 points each.

Day 2 in San Salvador - Aug 25, 2013

Costa Rica-El Salvador 57:71

El Salvador improved to 2-0 record at COCABA Championship for Women. The hosts of the tournament posted a 71:57 win over
Costa Rica in Day 2. Costa Rica meanwhile fell at 0-2 record and will take on Honduras in the last game of the tournament.
El Salvador opened the game with 14-13 lead and added 16-13 run before the halftime. El Salvador managed also to win both quarters in the second half as they reached final 14-point advantage. The hosts won the third period 22-15 and finished the game with 19-16 run.
MARTINEZ Argueta stepped up with 20 points and ESCOBAR MORAN collected 16 points and 15 rebounds. CALDERON APARICIO had 13, whilst SOSA QUINTANILLA netted 8. GALVEZ MORALES finished the game with 14 points in defeat and VARGAS PEREZ nailed 13. MATAMOROS SOLIS produced 6 points and 12 rebounds, while MALAVASSI ALVAREZ had 5.


Honduras-Mexico 56:89

Mexico outscore Honduras in Day 2 of COCABA Championship for Women in San Salvador. Mexico improved to 2-0 record after an 89:56 win.
Mexico won the first period 27-16 and added 15-8 rally in the second frame. The favorites managed to seal the victory also in the second half as they won another two quarters. Mexico posted a 28-20 run in the third period and finished the game with 20-11 run.
OROZCO GOLLAZ top-scored for the winners with 14 points and MORALES CASTRO,Abril Garcia (188-F/C-80, college: ORU) 13 and Brisa Silva (170-G-84, college: Oklahoma St.) had 13 each. BIBBS MORENO and GUARDIOLA SUBEALDEA followed them with 9 points each. MARTINEZ BENEDITH produced 15 points in the losing effort and JACKSON GARBOTT poured in 14. Day 1 in San Salvador - Aug 24, 2013

Mexico - Costa Rica 80:52

Mexico beat Costa Rica in the opener of the COCABA Championship for Women in San Salvador. Mexico started the campaign with an 80:52 win.
Mexico won the first period 17-10 and also scored 17 points in the second frame for 34:22 advantage at the halftime. Mexico won the third quarter 24-15 and achieved 58:37 lead after thirty minutes of the game. Mexico finished the game with 22-15 rally at the end of the game for the final result.
Abril Garcia (188-F/C-80, college: ORU) top-scored for the winners with 32 points and 13 rebounds, while Brisa Silva (170-G-84, college: Oklahoma St.) netted 14. MORALES CASTRO collected 10 points and 11 rebounds, whilst BIBBS MORENO had 8. VARGAS PEREZ answered with 11 points in a loss, whilst GALVEZ MORALES had 10. MALAVASSI ALVAREZ nailed 9 and AGUILAR VILLALOBOS delivered 6.

El Salvador- Honduras 82:55

El Salvador outscore Honduras at the home court in the start of the COCABA Championship for Women. The hosts of the competition posted an 82:55 win in their opener.
El Salvador managed to win all the quarters of the game. They started with a 15-14 run and then added 17-10 rally in the second frame. El Salvador produced later a 18-16 run and erupted with a 32-15 surge in the last stanza.
CALDERON APARICIO top-scored for the winners with 16 points and SOSA QUINTANILLA notched 15. ESCOBAR MORAN collected 14 points and 13 rebounds, whilst HELENA LEIVA poured in 8. MARTINEZ BENEDITH ended up with 21 points and 15 rebounds in defeat and JACKSON GARBOTT scored 13. GRENALD JACKSON and BUELTO HARRY brought 5 points each in a loss.
Tomorrow Honduras will take on Mexico, while El Salvador will play against Costa Rica.
