| |  | In the last round of of the Clausura Tournment, Coopenae Liceo de Costa Rica managed to defeat Ferreteria Brenes Barva, at the end of a true battle, 113-106 after two overtimes (the regulatione had ended 84-84 and the first overtime 95-95). As usual, the main performer in Liceo was Henry Martinez (186-G/F-75, agency: Interperformances), with 29 points. Thanks to this win Liceo confirms his role of main challenger of Barva for the 2008 title. In the other games of tthe round, BCR Colono Limon defeated San Luis Gonzaga, 51-63, with Charles Plummer scoring 15 pts in Limon and Cesar Carrillo (-F) scoring 14 at the losing side; Goicoechea felt again, this time to Universidad de Costa Rica, 67-73 (Sven Watson (183-F-80) topped the scorers at 25); Tiendas El Parque Escazu defeated Coyotes de Santa Ana 56-43 with Columbian Michael Jackson (-F) leading the way at 19 points. |

| |  | Reigning champions of Ferreteria Brenes Barva are yet undefeated after eight rounds of the Clausura Tournment of the National League-First Division. In the last game, they defeated 107-77 San Luis Gonzaga, led by Isaac St.Rose (190-G-84, college: John Brown), who scored 19 points, while Darrell St.Rose (-F/C-88) scored 23 pts in San Luis. In te other games, Limon easily defeated Goicoechea 77-32 with Gilberth McKenzie (185-G-85, college: Lake Region CC) leading the scorers at 20 points and Liceo de Costa Rica prevailed over Escazu 78-62 led by Aaron Sawyer (204-F/C-85, college: Northwest), who scored 20 points, the same point production of Luis Loria, who scored he too 20 in losing effort. |

In the last round, Limon defeated Perez Zeledon 78-56 led by Jackie Acuna (190-F-81), who scored 20 pts, Barva destroyed UCR 89-55 with Amir Alvarado (198-G/F-84, college: Marshalltown CC) leading the way at 23 pts, Liceo de Costa Rica prevailed over San Luis Gonzaga 100-73 with the 'usual' point production of Henry Martinez (186-G/F-75, agency: Interperformances) (20 pts), and Coyotes de Santa Ana defeated Goicoechea 64-46 with Hector Shepherd (191-C-80) and Carlos Villalobos topping the two teams at 14 points each. |

 | Clausura league has restarted | |

| |  | One week ago restarted the Costarican Firs Division, with the so-named Clausura Tournment. The following ones are some of the first games results: Cooepenae Liceo de Costa Rica defeated Coyotes de Santa Ana, 118-54, thanks to 22 points from newly added Henry Martinez (186-G/F-75, agency: Interperformances). Santa Cecilia prevailed over BCR Colono Limon, 72-88, with Delio Brenes (182-F-71) scoring 19 pts in Santa and Winston Campbell (187-G-70) scoring 17 in Limon. Reigning champions of Ferreteria Brenes Barva took the first two wins, defeating Tiendas El Parque Escazu 78-72 and then prevailing ofer Coyotes de Santa Ana, 95-51. Some days before, Santa Ana had defeated Cooopealianza UNA Prez Zeledon 81-72. Santa Cecilia had a game won 20-0 over Goicoechea due to not showing at the game of the host team, and this same team had yet been defeated by San Luis Gonzaga, 68-57. |

 | Barva wins Apertura title | |

| |  | Ferretera Brenes Barva swept the Final Series 2-0, defeating two times Liceo de Costa Rica, becoming the Apertura Champion 2008. Barva triumphed in Game 1 83-85 on the road the past friday night and largely won Game 2 yesterday at home, 85-67. Isaac St.Rose (190-G-84, college: John Brown) was the game top performer at 31 pts, Alonso Sanchez (174-G-85) scored 19 points in Liceo. |

| |  | As it was easy to expect, both Liceo de Costa Rica and Ferreterias Brenes Barva easily won the semifinals 2-0, advancing to the Apertura Finals. The best two teams of the last five seasons will prolong their rivalry starting from tonight, at 7 pm in the Gimnasio Nacional, the home of Liceo. Game 2 will be played on Sunday, at 6 pm, at the Palacio de los Deportes of Barva, where will be played also Game 3, if necessary, the next Wednesday. Most of the obeservers see Barva favourite, thanks to the home advantage, but Liceo is boosted by the new addition of import Lamar Rice (201-F-82, college: Georgetown, KY) and has Game 1 on his home court. | |  | At the end, the team Coopealianza UNA Perez Zeledon wans' t able to host the single Quarterfinal game vs. Ferreterias Brenes Barva, sadly leaving them to advance to the Semifinals, to meet Santa Cecilia. Game 1, played two nights ago, ended 90-75 for Barva, with Isaac St.Rose (190-G-84, college: John Brown) scoring 25 in Barva and Ivan Jaen (201-C-66) leading the way at 26 in Santa Cecilia. The other semifinal series is currently led by Liceo, winner over Limon 76-68 in Game 1, with Henry Martinez (186-G/F-75, agency: Interperformances) scoring 19 in losing effort and Lemark Clarck leading the winners with 24 pts. |

 | Barva to play tonight | |

| |  | Ferreteria Brenes Barva and Coopealianza UNA Perez Zeledon will play tonight at the Palacio de los Deportes to decide who will advance to the semifinals. The officials of Liga de Baloncesto Superior (LBS) decided to replace the playoff sereis, delayed due to the inclement weather caused by Hurricane Alma, with an unique game. No doubt that the favourite is Barva, that, in case of win, will meet Santa Cecilia on friday night for the first semifinal game. The other Semifinal, between Liceo and Limon, starts tonight at 8 pm in Eddy Bermudez Gymnasium of Limon. |
