Local basketball will see another series go to a third and decisive contest.

Team Charterland beat the Butterfield Shockwaves 75-40 last Sunday at Camana Bays Arts and Recreation Centre. The contest served as game two in the best-of-three division two series in the Cayman Islands Basketball Association 2012 national mens' league.

Charterland had lost game one 75-73, their first loss of the year, and were on the verge of elimination. Now the side has forced a game three, tentatively scheduled for this Thursday, 7 June, at 6.30pm at Camana Bay.

For Charterland guard Chris Lebeau (G), the focus is on keeping the defensive effort high.

'I missed last game and we only had five guys in game one so subs made a difference on Sunday', LeBeau said. 'We wanted to make sure they had no confidence going into the third game.'

For game three we need the same defensive effort. We got to keep it low-scoring and keep them out of the paint. For us offensively, everyone gets involved and its a team effort.

Charterland, behind top scorers Ovaine Monteith (G) and Will Koutney, dominated game two from the start. Hustle plays and determination on the offensive end led to a 42-20 lead with six minutes, 30 seconds to go in the third quarter. Charterland ended the third period up 53-31 and swelled their lead to 67-37 with 4.11 to go in the fourth quarter.
