Local basketball will see another series go to a third and decisive contest.

Team Charterland beat the Butterfield Shockwaves 75-40 last Sunday at Camana Bays Arts and Recreation Centre. The contest served as game two in the best-of-three division two series in the Cayman Islands Basketball Association 2012 national mens' league.

Charterland had lost game one 75-73, their first loss of the year, and were on the verge of elimination. Now the side has forced a game three, tentatively scheduled for this Thursday, 7 June, at 6.30pm at Camana Bay.

For Charterland guard Chris Lebeau (G), the focus is on keeping the defensive effort high.

'I missed last game and we only had five guys in game one so subs made a difference on Sunday', LeBeau said. 'We wanted to make sure they had no confidence going into the third game.'

For game three we need the same defensive effort. We got to keep it low-scoring and keep them out of the paint. For us offensively, everyone gets involved and its a team effort.

Charterland, behind top scorers Ovaine Monteith (G) and Will Koutney, dominated game two from the start. Hustle plays and determination on the offensive end led to a 42-20 lead with six minutes, 30 seconds to go in the third quarter. Charterland ended the third period up 53-31 and swelled their lead to 67-37 with 4.11 to go in the fourth quarter.

Warriors keep the top position in the National League. They enjoyed eight wins in as many games at the start of the season. Warriors crushed Charterland 85:58 in the latest game. Sol Blazers stay in the second position at 7-1 record. They eased past Asian Retain 100:52 in the latest action. Peachwave are in the third position at 6-2. Down to the semis in U14 hoops - 3 months ago
The semi-finals of the KPMG U14 Inter-School Boys Basketball League is set to begin on Monday, 26 February. Cayman Prep faces JGHS Dolphin Academy in the first semi-final at 3:30 p.m., followed by JGHS Wahoo Academy vs Clifton Hunter High School at 4:30 p.m. Consolation games will be played at the same time. Worthing Thunder (NBL D1) inked 31-year old Caymanian international guard Jorge Ebanks (185-86) from Solent Kestrels. In 13 NBL D1 games he recorded 12.8ppg, 5.7rpg, 4.6apg and 2.4spg last season.
