The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Osorno Basquetbol as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Osorno Basquetbol defeated 6th ranked CD Castro at home 83-73. Osorno Basquetbol looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Brandon Robinson (198-89, college: Clayton St.) who scored 29 points and 9 rebounds. Center Yamene Coleman (208-86, college: Troy, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 24 points and 14 rebounds. Forward Terrance Thomas (198-80, college: Baylor, agency: Interperformances) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 16 rebounds and 8 assists for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. CD Castro lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with 12 games lost. CD Castro will play next round against Espanol de Talca trying to get back on the winning streak. Osorno Basquetbol will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Puente Alto on the road.
Important game to mention about took place in Valdivia. Fourth ranked AB Ancud (14-11) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 6th ranked Las Animas (12-11) 68-65 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Las Animas. American forward Reginald Larry (198-86, college: Boise St., agency: Pro Sports) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds. Sebastian Figueroa contributed with 18 points, 7 assists and 5 steals for the winners. American center Terrell Taylor (203-81, college: Virginia Tech, agency: DTMones) answered with 25 points and 5 rebounds for Las Animas. AB Ancud have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 14-11 record. Las Animas at the other side dropped to the seventh position with 11 games lost. AB Ancud will play against higher ranked Universidad de Concepcion (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Las Animas will play against Tinguiririca S.F. (#12) in San Fernando and hope to get back on the winning track.
Very important is a road loss of second ranked Los Leones (17-7) against eighth ranked Espanol de Talca (12-9) on Sunday night. Visiting Los Leones were defeated by Espanol de Talca in a tough game in Talca 75-81. It was a great evening for Dwight McCombs who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds (on 14-of-17 shooting from the field). Brandon Bowdry responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds. Espanol de Talca moved-up to fifth place, which they share with CD Valdivia. Loser Los Leones keep the second position with seven games lost. Espanol de Talca will meet CD Castro (#8) on the road in the next round. Los Leones will play against Puerto Montt (#9) and hope to secure a win.
The game with biggest result difference took place in Valdivia. Local Deportivo Valdivia (12-9) beat 10th ranked Puente Alto (8-16) 81-68. It was a quality performance for Durrell Summers who led the winners and scored 26 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Deportivo Valdivia moved-up to fifth place, which they share with CDE Talca. Puente Alto at the other side keeps the tenth position with 16 games lost. Deportivo Valdivia's next round opponent will be Universidad Catolica (#11) in Santiago which should be theoretically an easy game. Puente Alto will play at home against the league's leader Osorno Basquetbol and hope to win that game.

In the last two games of round 23 bottom-ranked Tinguiririca S.F. was defeated by Puerto Montt in a road game 95-86. CDU Concepcion beat CDU Catolica at home 66-62.

Las Animas - AB Ancud 65-68

Important game to mention about took place in Valdivia. Fourth ranked AB Ancud (14-11) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 6th ranked Las Animas (12-11) 68-65 on Sunday evening. Very important is a road loss of second ranked Los Leones (17-7) against eighth ranked Espanol de Talca (12-9) on Sunday night. Visiting Los Leones were defeated by Espanol de Talca in a tough game in Talca 75-81. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 48-40 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Espanol de Talca made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American forward Dwight McCombs (203-89, college: Cent.Florida) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds (on 14-of-17 shooting from the field). The former international point guard Francisco Bravo (174-87) helped adding 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). There was no surprise when 12th ranked Tinguiririca S.F. (5-19) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Puerto Montt (10-12) 95-86. The game without a history. Puerto Montt led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Mike Phillips (201-90, college: Howard) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Louis Munks (190-90, college: Prairie View A&M) accounted for 22 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Four Puerto Montt players scored in double figures. Argentinian power forward Juan Luis Abeiro (196-88) came up with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 14 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Michael Ernst (187-82) added 18 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Tinguiririca S.F. in the defeat. Puerto Montt maintains ninth place with 10-12 record. Tinguiririca S.F. lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 19 games lost. Puerto Montt's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Los Leones in Quilpue and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. CDU Concepcion - CDU Catolica 66-62

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Universidad de Concepcion (14-7) defeated at home 11th ranked Universidad Catolica (5-19) 66-62. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts were ahead by 12 points but lost the second period ending it with a 2-point deficit before their 20-14 run, which allowed them to win the game. Universidad de Concepcion dominated on the defensive end, holding Universidad Catolica to just 7 points in first quarter. They outrebounded Universidad Catolica 44-24 including a 35-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American center Paul Harrison (203-89, college: N.Greenville) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 18 rebounds. Jamaican-American guard Akeem Scott (185-83, college: High Point) accounted for 26 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Scott is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American power forward Brandon Crawford (201-84, college: Albion) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds and the other American import forward John Dickson (198-90, college: Sacramento St.) added 21 points and 6 assists respectively for Universidad Catolica in the defeat.
