McCombs
American Dwight McCombs (203-F-89) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for CDE Talca and that's him to receive a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 23.
The 27-year old forward had a double-double of 36 points and seventeen rebounds, while his team beat Los Leones (#2, 17-7) 81-75. CDE Talca is placed at 5th position in Chilean Liga Nacional. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. CDE Talca will need more victories to improve their 12-9 record. It's McCombs' second year at CDE Talca and it's hard to imagine this team without him. University of Central Florida graduate has very impressive stats this year. McCombs is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 13.6rpg) and averages solid 1.4bpg and 55.2% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 28-year old Argentinian Juan Luis Abeiro (196-C/F-88) of Tinguiririca S.F.. Abeiro impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 35 points and 14 rebounds. Bad luck as Tinguiririca S.F. lost that game 86-95 to the higher-ranked Puerto Montt (#9, 10-12). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Tinguiririca S.F. is still at the dead bottom 12th position. 19 lost games are too many comparing to just five victories Tinguiririca S.F. managed to get this year. Abeiro is a newcomer at Tinguiririca S.F. and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 25.4ppg (#4). His other stats are also decent: 11.8rpg and 3.2apg.

The third best performed player last round was American Mike Phillips (201-F/C-90) of Puerto Montt (#9). Phillips scored 29 points and grabbed ten rebounds. He was a key player of Puerto Montt, leading his team to a 95-86 win against the lower-ranked Tinguiririca S.F. (#12, 5-19). The chances of Puerto Montt ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 12 games, recording just ten victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Phillips could help Puerto Montt to bring them higher in the standings. Phillips has a very solid season. In 22 games in Chile he scored 19.6ppg. He also has 9.0rpg, 1.4bpg and FGP: 57.8%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Reginald Larry (198-F-86) of AB Ancud - 25 points and 13 rebounds
5. Durrell Summers (193-SF-89) of CD Valdivia - 26 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Brandon Robinson (198-F-89) of Osorno - 29 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Yamene Coleman (208-C-86) of Osorno - 24 points and 14 rebounds
8. Paul Harrison (203-C-89) of CDU Concepcion - 16 points, 18 rebounds and 2 assists
9. John Dickson (198-F-90) of CDU Catolica - 21 points, 3 rebounds and 6 assists
10. Akeem Scott (185-G-83) of CDU Concepcion - 26 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
