The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

Tenth-ranked Puente Alto (8-17) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Osorno Basquetbol (19-7) on Saturday. The visitors from Osorno managed to secure only two-point victory 78-76. However their fans expected much easier game. It was a good game for American center Yamene Coleman (208-86, college: Troy, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds. International forward Juan Fontena (196-87) contributed with 18 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Venezuelan forward Lenin Lopez (198-91) replied with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds for Puente Alto. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Osorno Basquetbol keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Los Leones. Puente Alto at the other side keeps the tenth place with 17 games lost. Osorno Basquetbol is looking forward to face Tinguiririca S.F. (#11) in San Fernando in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Puente Alto will play at home against Las Animas and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.

The best for the losing side was American forward Tyrone Lee (204-90, college: Grand Valley St.) with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Espanol de Talca have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with CD Valdivia. CD Castro lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 14 games lost. Espanol de Talca will play against higher ranked AB Ancud (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. CD Castro will play against Universidad de Concepcion (#4) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Liga Nacional top team - Los Leones (19-7) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed ninth ranked Puerto Montt (10-13) in Quilpue 110-76. The best player for the winners was Brandon Bowdry who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists. Puerto Montt's coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Los Leones maintains first position with 19-7 record, which they share with Osorno. Puerto Montt at the other side keeps the ninth place with 13 games lost. Los Leones' next round opponent will be Deportivo Valdivia (#6) at home where they are favorite. Puerto Montt will play against Universidad Catolica in Santiago and hope to win that game.

It was a good game for Howard Crawford who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Universidad Catolica's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Los Leones maintains first position with 19-7 record, which they share with Osorno. Universidad Catolica lost fifth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 21 lost games. Los Leones will face Deportivo Valdivia (#6) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Universidad Catolica will play against Puerto Montt (#9) and hope to win that game.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 24: Las Animas was beaten by Tinguiririca S.F. on the road 82-76. Bottom-ranked CDU Catolica lost to CD Valdivia on its own court 78-84. CD Castro unfortunately lost to Las Animas in Valdivia 72-80.

Tinguiririca S.F. - Las Animas 82-76

There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Tinguiririca S.F. (6-19) beat higher ranked Las Animas (13-12) in San Fernando 82-76 on Saturday. Tinguiririca S.F. looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a good game for Argentinian power forward Juan Luis Abeiro (196-88) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international swingman Patrick Saez (193-79) contributed with 10 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. American center Terrell Taylor (203-81, college: Virginia Tech, agency: DTMones) replied with 29 points and 8 rebounds and the former international power forward Jose Del Solar (195-90) added 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Las Animas. Tinguiririca S.F. maintains eleventh position with 6-19 record. Loser Las Animas dropped to the seventh place with 12 games lost. Tinguiririca S.F. will face league's second-placed Osorno Basquetbol at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Universidad de Concepcion (14-8) against fourth ranked AB Ancud (15-11) on Saturday night. Visiting Universidad de Concepcion was defeated by AB Ancud in Ancud 92-74. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Universidad de Concepcion. AB Ancud shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 55.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists.
