The games are now more important than at the beginning of the Regular Season. We may still expect few shocking results in upcoming 3 rounds. There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with derby games and favorites losing the games.

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Valdivia: Deportivo Valdivia (#6) and Las Animas (#7). Las Animas were smashed at home by 17 points 50-67 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Deportivo Valdivia outrebounded Las Animas 47-35 including 38 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American Durrell Summers (193-89, college: Michigan St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points and 14 rebounds and the former international Gerardo Isla (201-91, college: Columbia, MO) who added 16 points and 14 rebounds during the contest. Deportivo Valdivia's coach Juan Manuel Cordoba used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American guard Dominic Cheek (198-91, college: Villanova) responded with 16 points. Deportivo Valdivia have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with CDE Talca. Las Animas at the other side keep the seventh position with 15 games lost. Deportivo Valdivia is looking forward to face CD Castro (#8) at home in the next round. Las Animas will play against Puerto Montt and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Valdivia: Deportivo Valdivia (#6) and Las Animas (#7). Deportivo Valdivia (16-11) won against visiting Las Animas (14-15) 96-88. The winners were led by American Durrell Summers (193-89, college: Michigan St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) and Gerardo Isla supported him with 21 points and 9 rebounds. Even a double-double of 22 points and 14 rebounds by American center Terrell Taylor (203-81, college: Virginia Tech, agency: DTMones) did not help to save the game for Las Animas. Deportivo Valdivia have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with CDE Talca. Las Animas at the other side keep the seventh position with 15 games lost. Deportivo Valdivia will play against CD Castro (#8) at home in the next round. Las Animas will play against Puerto Montt and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a road loss of second ranked Osorno Basquetbol (20-9) against ninth ranked Puerto Montt (12-15) on Wednesday night. Visiting Osorno Basquetbol was defeated by Puerto Montt in Puerto Montt 91-81. Americans were the main players on the court. Mike Phillips fired 26 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners.
