AB Ancud upset CD Valdivia to take the lead in the quarterfinal series. Deportivo Valdivia was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 27-21 charge of AB Ancud, which allowed them to win the game. American forward Reginald Larry (198-86, college: Boise St., agency: Pro Sports) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and Venezuelan swingman Francisco Centeno (201-85) chipped in 25 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side American Durrell Summers (193-89, college: Michigan St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds and the former international guard Erik Carrasco (181-83) scored 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game.

Osorno - Las Animas 81-76

Osorno held off Las Animas in the opener. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-76. American forward Brandon Robinson (198-89, college: Clayton St.) fired 27 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Nigerian-American center Reggie Okosa (208-80, college: La Salle) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Four Osorno Basquetbol players scored in double figures. American guard Dominic Cheek (198-91, college: Villanova) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import center Terrell Taylor (203-81, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Aspire Sports) added 22 points and 14 rebounds respectively for lost side.

Los Leones outgunned Tinguiririca to secure the winning start of the quarterfinal series. The game was mostly controlled by Los Leones. Tinguiririca S.F. was better in fourth quarter 22-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Tinguiririca S.F. 40-29 including 31 on the defensive glass. American swingman Brandon Bowdry (200-88, college: E.Michigan, agency: Inception Sports) nailed 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import DeAndre Coleman (201-86, college: S.Alabama, agency: DTMones) accounted for 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Los Leones' coach Claudio Jorquera felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Brazilian center Lucas Tischer (208-83) came up with 20 points and 5 rebounds and Argentinian power forward Juan-Luis Abeiro (196-88) added 15 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Tinguiririca S.F. in the defeat. Five Los Leones and four Tinguiririca S.F. players scored in double figures.

CDE Talca toppled CDU Concepcion on the road to surge ahead in the series. The game was mostly controlled by Espanol de Talca. Universidad de Concepcion was better in third quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Espanol de Talca had a 33-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Decorey Jones (201-90, college: Faulkner) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Dwight McCombs (203-89, college: Cent.Florida) contributed with 16 points for the winners. British-American Darren Phillip (201-78, college: Fairfield, agency: DTMones) answered with 14 points and 7 rebounds and Jamaican-American guard Akeem Scott (185-83, college: High Point) added 11 points and 5 steals in the effort for Universidad de Concepcion.
