Sixth-ranked Osorno Basquetbol (3-13) made lots of trouble for first ranked Los Leones (12-5) in Quilpue on Saturday. Los Leones managed to secure only one-point victory 97-96. However their fans expected much easier game. Los Leones outrebounded Osorno Basquetbol 56-45 including 22 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Argentinian forward Lisandro Rasio (198-90, agency: Pro Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 24 rebounds. American forward John-A Thomas (198-82, college: Columbus St.) chipped in 24 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American Durrell Summers (193-89, college: Michigan St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 56 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds. Osorno Basquetbol's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Los Leones have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 12-5 record. Osorno Basquetbol lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 13 games lost. Los Leones are looking forward to face league's leader Las Animas in Valdivia in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Osorno Basquetbol will play on the road against Universidad Catolica (#4) in Santiago and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Castro. Second ranked Espanol de Talca faced 4th ranked CD Castro. Guests from Talca (11-7) defeated host CD Castro (6-13) 95-89. It was a good game for American forward Terrence Shannon (203-79, college: Elgin CC) who led his team to a victory with 38 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds. David Gonzalez contributed with 14 points for the winners. American forward Rakim Brown (198-91, college: Humboldt St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds for CD Castro. CD Castro's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Espanol de Talca have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 11-7 record having five points less than leader Los Leones, which they share with CD Valdivia. CD Castro at the other side dropped to the fifth place with 13 games lost. Espanol de Talca will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. CD Castro will play at home against Universidad de Concepcion (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Host AB Ancud (12-6) defeated guests from Concepcion (9-10) 84-80. Jonatan Machuca had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 assists to lead the charge for the winners. The best for the losing side was Musa Abdul-Aleem with 36 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. AB Ancud maintains second position with 12-6 record having four points less than leader Los Leones. Loser Universidad de Concepcion keeps the third place with ten games lost. AB Ancud will meet at home league's leader Los Leones in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Universidad de Concepcion will play against CD Castro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game with biggest result difference took place in Valdivia. Local Deportivo Valdivia (11-7) outscored 6th ranked Tinguiririca S.F. (5-13) 92-53. Javier Carter notched a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Deportivo Valdivia moved-up to second place, which they share with CDE Talca. Tinguiririca S.F. lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 13 games lost. Deportivo Valdivia's next round opponent will be Puente Alto (#5) at home. Tinguiririca S.F. will play against Puerto Montt and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 18 Puente Alto was defeated by Puerto Montt in a road game 92-79.

CD Castro - CDE Talca 89-95

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Castro. Second ranked Espanol de Talca faced 4th ranked CD Castro. Guests from Talca (11-7) defeated host CD Castro (6-13) 95-89. Espanol de Talca players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. It was a good game for American forward Terrence Shannon (203-79, college: Elgin CC) who led his team to a victory with 38 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds.
