American Darrin Dorsey (188-PG) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's leader Bambuqueros and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 17 (Second Stage). The -year old playmaker recorded a triple-double of 24 points addeding also ten rebounds and ten assists, while his team beat Academia (#5, 5-12) 84-76. It allowed Bambuqueros to consolidate first place in the Colombian DPB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier in Second Stage. Bambuqueros has a very solid 12-5 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. In the team's last game Dorsey had a remarkable 87.5% from 2-point range and got three three-pointers out of 6 attempts. He just recently signed at Bambuqueros, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Dakota Wesleyan University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Dorsey is in league's top in assists (3rd best: 5.2apg) and averages solid 54.6% FGP.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 28-year old American forward Brandon Crawford (201-F-84, agency: Dream Team Management) of Academia. Crawford impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 23 points and 16 rebounds. Bad luck as Academia lost that game 76-84 to the higher-ranked Bambuqueros (#1, 12-5). Academia managed to keep the same 5th spot in the standings. 12 lost games are too many comparing to just five victories Academia managed to get this Second Stage. Crawford is one of the most experienced players at Academia and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.4ppg (#7). He also registered 11.4 boards per game.
The third best performed player last round was American Justin Garris (196-F/G-89) of Once Caldas (#4). Garris scored 26 points. He was a key player of Once Caldas, leading his team to a 112-81 easy win against slightly lower-ranked Aguilas (#6, 5-12). Once Caldas needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 9 victories and 8 lost games. Garris has a very solid season. In 44 games in Colombia he scored 17.3ppg.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Cesar Chavez Jacobo (196-PG-85) of Academia - 23 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists 5. Gianluca Bacci (187-G-89) of Aguilas - 22 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists 6. Jason Edwin (197-G/F-81) of Bucaros - 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists 7. Cesar Cortes (201-F-80) of Once Caldas - 14 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists 8. John Hernandez (207-C-84) of Bucaros - 7 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists 9. Sergio Trocha (204-C-87) of Bucaros - 12 points and 10 rebounds 10. Enielsen Guevara (204-F/C-82) of Bambuqueros - 16 points and 5 rebounds
The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
