An interesting game for Bucaros (11-6) which played road game in Cundinamarca against 4th placed Condores (8-9). Third ranked Bucaros managed to get a 11-point victory 94-83. American Tayron Thomas (191-84, college: Philadelphia) orchestrated the victory by scoring 30 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. American-Jamaican guard T.J. Sapp (190-92, college: Murray St., agency: Duran International) contributed with 21 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winners. The former international guard Stalin Ortiz (190-81, college: Valparaiso) answered with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds for Condores. Condores' coach Tomas Diaz rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Bucaros have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 11-6 record having just three points less than leader Academia. Condores at the other side keep the fourth position with nine games lost. They share it with Sabios and Halcones. Bucaros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Condores will play again at home against Bucaros (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Liga DirecTV top team - Academia (14-3) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat fifth ranked Sabios (8-9) in Manizales 74-59. Puerto Rican-Dominican forward Jonathan Rodriguez (196-87, college: Campbell) stepped up and scored 26 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Michael Hinestroza Javes chipped in 12 points and 14 rebounds. Sabios will play again at home against the league's leader Academia (#1) and hope to get back on the winning track.
The game between second ranked Cimarrones (12-5) and 8th ranked Piratas (2-15) in Quibdo-Choco on Friday ended with biggest points difference. Cimarrones outscored guests from Bogota 83-44.
