Tayron
Thomas
31-year old shooting guard Tayron Thomas (191-SG-84) put on an amazing game in the last round for Bucaros and receives a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 17.
He had the game-high 30 points adding nine rebounds and five assists for Bucaros in his team's victory, helping them to beat Condores (#6, 8-10) 94-83. Bucaros maintains the 3rd position in Colombian league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Bucaros will need more victories to improve their 12-6 record. In the team's last game Thomas had a remarkable 64.3% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Bucaros, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Philadelphia University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Thomas is in league's top in points (8th best: 18.2ppg) and averages solid 65.1% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Jonathan Rodriguez (196-F-87) of top-ranked Academia. He is Puerto Rican-Dominican Rep. forward in his first season at Academia. In the last game Rodriguez recorded impressive 26 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Of course he led Academia to another comfortable win 74-59 over the lower-ranked Sabios (#4, 8-10) being unquestionably team leader. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Academia consolidated its place in the very top position of the standings. His team lost just three games this season, while they won 15 matches. Rodriguez is one of the most experienced players at Academia and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 26.0ppg (#1). His other stats are also decent: 7.2rpg and 3.2apg.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Titus Mims (201-F) of Aguilas (#7). Mims scored 20 points and grabbed eleven rebounds (!!!). Despite Mims' great performance Aguilas lost 63-71 to slightly higher-ranked Halcones (#5, 8-10). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Aguilas not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 12 games, recording just six victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Mims could try to bring Aguilas' a little bit higher in the standings. Mims has individually a great season in Colombia. After 17 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 23.8ppg (2nd best) and rebounds with 9.1rpg (8th best). He also has 2.4bpg and FGP: 56.4%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Brandon Sperling (196-G-90) of Cimarrones - 14 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists
5. Tyler Murray (195-G/F-90) of Academia - 19 points and 5 rebounds
6. Stalin Ortiz (190-G-81) of Condores - 26 points and 12 rebounds
7. Antonio Davis (196-G/F-82) of Piratas - 16 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists
8. R.J. McGhee (198-F) of Halcones - 21 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Jairo Mendoza (203-F/C-85) of Condores - 15 points and 13 rebounds
10. Michael Hinestroza Javes (208-F-90) of Academia - 12 points, 14 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
