Tayron
Thomas
American Shooting guard Tayron Thomas (191-SG-84) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Bucaros, receiving a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 18.
The 31-year old player was the main contributor (30 points, nine rebounds and five assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Condores (#6, 8-10) 94-83. Bucaros maintains the 3rd position in Colombian Liga DirecTV. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Bucaros will need more victories to improve their 12-6 record. In the team's last game Thomas had a remarkable 64.3% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Bucaros, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Former Philadelphia University star has very solid stats this year. Thomas is in league's top in points (5th best: 20.2ppg) and averages impressive 64.9% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was -year old American Titus Mims (201-F) of Aguilas. Mims had a very good evening with a double-double of 23 points and 14 rebounds. Of course he led Aguilas to another comfortable win 66-52 over slightly higher-ranked Halcones (#5, 8-10) being unquestionably team leader. Aguilas' 7th position in the standings has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 6-12 record. Mims is one of the most experienced players at Aguilas and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 23.7ppg (#2). He also registered 9.4 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was former international center John Hernandez (207-C-84) of Sabios (#4). Hernandez scored 16 points and grabbed fourteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Hernandez's great performance Sabios lost 58-65 to #1 ranked Academia. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The chances of Sabios ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 10 games, recording just eight victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Hernandez could help Sabios to bring them higher in the standings. Hernandez has a great season in Colombia. After 18 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 12.0rpg (2nd best) and assists with 1.1apg (7th best). He also has 1.3bpg and FGP: 50.9%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Aramie Brooks (203-F/C-87) of Aguilas - 14 points, 17 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Stalin Ortiz (190-G-81) of Condores - 26 points and 12 rebounds
6. Jairo Mendoza (203-F/C-85) of Condores - 15 points and 13 rebounds
7. Cesar Cortes (200-F/C-81) of Cimarrones - 22 points and 4 rebounds
8. Dwayne Smith (198-F-89) of Academia - 17 points and 15 rebounds
9. Brandon Sperling (196-G-90) of Cimarrones - 18 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Tyquane Goard (201-F-93) of Cimarrones - 5 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
